Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent item with drawbacks I purchased this item after starting to paint my double garage made internally of Thermalite bricks. The job was demoralizing doing it manually. After doing a bit of research and initially looking at purchasing a handheld Wagner I realized I needed something with a larger container and spray head. On the initial opening of the item, I was impressed with the two different size containers and heads that cover various applications. Everything seems very good quality and easily cleaned. I read the instructions before use and started using my mat white emulsion in the garage. The paint had to be diluted by 10% to vapourise enough to spray. More than 10% dilution ended up with runs on the wall so I stuck with the recommendations. The large application sprayer gave a really good and even finish, it took a bit of practice and covered an area so much quicker than rollering. This really was excellent product to use in my garage and filled all those holes/air pockets that you get with these Thermalite / Engineering blocks. You could not paint inside those with a roller or brush without great difficulty. A number of people have commented on the finish! It gets through a lot of paint, but is also lot more efficient than a roller and brush I used just over 2 large 10L tubs to paint a double garage and plastered ceiling - very impressed. You can do a number of passes and get your 2 coats without any runs in the same session. It is also very easy to clean, dismantles well and takes a maximum of 10 mins to do so to an acceptable level. Now that I have finished. I will clean the main housing and hose down seperatly. The only downsides I have: 1) I'm not sure how confident I would be to use this inside a house, certainly on a ceiling where there is a lot of overspray downstream. 2) I would attempt doing a wall, but you would have to do some good masking in corners and doorways. (Not every application is a flat wall without plugs and doorways as per the Wagner demonstration!) 3) On its highest setting of '20' it creates a large volume of air and therefore it generates a large throw with the paint. You will get paint travelling a good 4/5 meters if your painting a ceiling where you cannot get a direct angle. 4) I painted my garage and masked everything e.g garage door, runners, plugs, boiler RCD unit. If you want a good finish and get close to things this is the only way to do things without completely ruining the item next to where you are painting. 5) If you have plastic dust sheets on items then the large volume of air that comes out of this item creates a vacuum in areas that sucks the sheets of items - be careful and make sure sheets are held down or taped. It would be good to lower the volume of air / turn of machine from the trigger (Like a traditional compressor) without having to down this on the main body. This would be a nice update.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not rated for Trade Paints After multiple attempts to use this product and having called Wagner Customer Service several times, it was concluded that the product was not suitable to the high quality trade paint that I was attempting to use (from the Paint Shed). They advocated I instead use cheaper consumer paint, as this would work better with the gun. This seemed very strange advice, as my experience with cheap paint is that it is a false economy and not worth it. Also, I wanted the look and durability of the trade paint in question. The paint was no thicker, it had be strained and had been watered down as per the the advice. I must say the customer service from Wagner was excellent, however in the end, only served to point out that the product is not fit for purpose. The item was returned and after spending hours and hours masking the house, I had to roller anyway.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent BUT read instruction Once I got used to it (you have to read and follow the instructions and then spend a bit of time getting dilution of paint and pressures correct) it has made very short work of some large areas. There is a lot of ‘mist’ so you have to seal up the room your doing and mask off well. Pre dilute paint first (if required) as the pot doesn’t long and far simpler to do in bulk than by individual pot. Has already saved me days of work never mind hours.

Hi, is this unit suitable for chalk furniture paint please? If so, do I use paint straight from the tin or water down first? Many thanks x

Asked by: DIYconfusedDamsel
Hi, This machine will spray that material, but you will be best to dilute it by about 10% first just to help it through the machine.

Can you use Ronseal rescue paint with this, its water based paint. But according to Ronseal it advises against spraying, any idea why?

Asked by: JohnnieTT
Hi, Unfortunately if Ronseal advises that it shouldn't be sprayed, its usually because something in the makeup of the paint is not suitable for a spray machine and i would have to take their advice with that.

Hi, is this product versatile enough to use with interior emulsion, shed and fence treatments such as cuprinol ducksback, and exterior masonry paint?

Asked by: JonCH63
Hi, It will spray ducksback and emulsion with the 2 different guns, however Masonry paint would be a little too think for it unfortunately. You would need to purchase an airless machines for that kind work.

can i use smooth masonary paint in this

is this suitable to use smooth masonary paint
Asked by: pt342
Unfortunately that machine will not be suitable for that material, you would need an airless machine, like a Control Pro 250m for example.
