Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the Job Bought this as a simple test before proceeding further. It is simple to use, efficient and appears to be just the thing if in any doubt. Every home should have one !!!!!! This website is refusing to let me get past "reliability" Screwfix.... How do I know this yet ? No more reviews from me. Takes too long.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from False positives Did a couple of compression joints and this thing detected a leak. After about an hour of refitting the couplers with different thread seals and more V2 jointing compound the leak was still there driving us nuts. After having an epiphany I decided to stick the probe near the open pot of V2 compound and guess what.. Yep, it thought the very thing needed to ensure no leak was actually a gas leak. Not sure whether it would go off with Fernox and of course soldered joints would be fine, but if you're fitting a gas valve with V2 you're back to getting the manometer out to check for leaks afterwards.

Will this detect O2 in boiler flue

Asked by: None1q1q1
I'm afraid not. This is a combustible gas ambient air detector for tracing gas leaks from pipework or around boiler casings and shouldn't be placed inside a boiler flue.

I think iv got a gas leak from my metre at home, will this detect it

Asked by: Customcreations1
The leak detector has been designed to detect combustible gases including Natural Gas. If the leak is greater than the equivalent to 30ppm Methane (which is the sensitivity) then it will indicate the presence.

Sewer Gas

Would this be able to detect and pinpoint the source of low levels of sewer gas leaking into my downstairs bathroom and utility room ?
Asked by: MuckyBoots
As the sewer gas is combustible it will detect it but it depends on what level "low level is"? The sensitivity of the 725L is 40ppm equivalent to Methane so if the levels are above this then yes it will detect the gas. You can pinpoint the source of the leak by using the "zero out the background function".
