Rated 5 out of 5 by from Invaluable Bought this as it seemed good value, paid for itself on the first job! Traced a 2mbar drop on a system to a faulty bayonet fitting in minutes which saved me a lot of time cutting and capping pipework to trace. For a shade over £40 I cant recommend this highly enough.

Does this sensor have a removable cap?

The data sheet for the 725A (available on the TPI website) states ... " 725A is ready for use. Remove the sensor cap from the top of the 725A." .... The instructions for the 725A makes no mention of a cap.
Asked by: SuperRon59
There is a removable cap on the 725a, which has 5 holes, that can be taken off and fitted to the bottom of the 725a. The 725a can be used without removing the cap because of the holes, but you might get a quicker response if the cap is placed on the bottom of the 725a as you'll be exposing more of the sensor to the area under test. Hope this helps.

Calibration

Does this device require calibration or has it got a workable lifespan?
Asked by: Steven123456
If there is no legislation in place to enforce annual calibration, which for this product there isn't, then as a rule of thumb we say that any piece of electronic equipment should be serviced/calibrated/re-certified/checked annually. However, having said that the user of the equipment should be conscientious enough to check and understand that that piece of equipment is working correctly, before each job, if they are going to be relying on the results it gives.

The TPI 725L was designed to assist a professional gas engineer to track and trace gas leaks in a domestic environment including boilers, gas meters, pipework and stoves etc..... therefore this instrument is suitable for detecting gas leaks at home. Thanks for looking and thanks for the question.

Hi, apologies for the delay in replying but we needed to check with the sensor manufacturer. We have just heard back and had confirmation that the 725 CANNOT detect H2S gas. Sorry!!
