Rated 1 out of 5 by from Absolute tat save your money Bought these to reconnect 2 radiators that backed onto each other in kitchen and lounge. Followed all the instructions and made sure pipes were clean etc. Made sure fittings went on fully. Went into loft to put header tank back on came down to water leaking from most of them. By the time I had got water turned off carpeting in living room had several gallons of dirty water on it. Fittings on both old and new pipe failed. I had used a couple of plastic push fit in the kitchen and guess what they held lovely. Wish I had just taken time and effort with solder fittings as this has been an expensive lesson in not listening to positive reviews on Screwfix as any negative ones I have put on have not appeared. Wonder if this one will?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Genius bit of kit Had a leaky compression elbow under the bath. Rather than overtighten the old one or replace it with another, decided to try the Tectite Sprint push fit after reading all the glowing reviews. What a revelation! Even if you have no plumbing skills what so ever this little item is simplicity itself. I just made sure both ends of copper pipe were clean, pushed the elbow on firmly and there you have it, a leak-free secure joint in seconds. Whoever came up with this genius idea should be given a Knighthood.

Are these fittings reusable?

Asked by: Ivan3846
No The tektite range are not removable. Conex cuprofit are releasable with a plastic tool that costs about £1.50. Sadly Screwfix do not stock them.

can this type of fitting be used with gas

Asked by: myorange5
No push fit fittings are allowed on gas pipe work unless manufacturer states otherwise. Only a gas safe qualified and registered engineer should work on gas pipe work and appliances. Safety first gas is very dangerous.

Can I use copper push fit on plastic pipe?

Asked by: TEdm
Looking at the Tectite.co.uk web site it shows that the sprint and pro ranges can be used on copper, PEX & PB (PEX is cross linked polyethylene like the speedfit white pipe from screwfix) it does not state if you need inserts to complete the seal but I suspect not with copper.

can i use the tectite copper push fit with chrome pipe

Asked by: costello
You can't use these Tectite fittings including the chrome version directly on to chrome plated copper pipe without removing the chrome plating first. Similarly you can't use plastic pushfit systems either. The only fittings that you can use directly on to chrome plated copper pipe are press fit fittings such as Yorkshire XPress, using a press fitting tool, or compression fittings, but not pushfit. Screwfix stock a range of chrome plated compression fittings.
