Rated 5 out of 5 by from very effective tool i bought this to use for 8 holes i required for support posts . i read all of the reviews first and went for this instead of some of the cheaper ones around. I have to say , 4 holes in and i am impressed , yes it needs some muscle but it works well and deals well with stones . One tip, when cutting deep holes , pull up the auger and empty the soil out regulalrly. This is well worth the money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great tool I bought this to dig two holes to put up washing line poles. The price on Screwfix was cheaper than I had seen elsewhere and the item was delivered earlier than advertised. This is a very sturdy tool and I have found it useful that the wooden handle can slide which gives greater leverage and also allows you to work in restricted spaces. I have only dug one hole so far and am hoping to do the next one today. I am 69 years old and whilst it was quite difficult drilling down and harder to pull out the auger, if you do the job in small increments this gets it done without risking injury to your back. I drilled down and then reversed the rotation until I was able to remove the auger. Knock off the soil and back in again. Little and often and it gets the job done. It produces a hole large enough for me to postcrete my washing line poles. I may try it for fence posts later but I think you would need to drill a few holes and possibly finish off with a spade to get a hole big enough to postcrete 4x4 fence posts. Definitely happy to recommend this tool and it seems sturdy enough to give you many years of use..

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Why did I not buy these sooner I bought these and a Roughneck post hole digger, as I was building some decking in my garden which required 12 posts. These tools were amazing, I dug the holes out in about a quarter of the time it would normally have taken me. Also because of the way the holes are dug I needed far less post cement (approx half what I would usually use). I only wish I knew about these a couple of years ago, when I put my fence up. Absolutely worth the money.
