Bathroom door handle

I have purchased a Crantock Lever for bathroom . Is this universal fitting both left and right side of door depending on position of door and bathroom as we have different in our house?

does this need a separate locking mechanism other than the standard tubular latch

I just want to twist the knob which locks the handle in place, without the requirement of a separate lock.
