Hi Lyanne, These handles are compatible with the following locks: Smith & Locke Polished Chrome Bathroom Mortice Lock 65mm Case - 44mm Backset (9600G) and Smith & Locke Polished Chrome Bathroom Mortice Lock 76mm Case - 57mm Backset (1840G). With regard to the size, the backset dimension (44mm and 57mm) dictates which one should be used. It is the horizontal distance from the edge of the door to the centre of the spindle which joins the 2 handles. If your door already has a hole in it for the spindle, then you will need to measure the distance from the centre of the hole to the edge of the door in order to select the correct lock. If the door does not yet have a spindle hole then you can use either lock. The lock with the greater backset results in the handle being a little further from the edge of the door.
