Rated 1 out of 5 by from Cheap and nasty Feels cheap and plasticy, no battery with it, Battery doesnt fit very well. Lights difficult to see when on the roof but it really is a blunt tool unlike the SLX Satellite Dish Signal strength meter. No chance of any fine adjustment to get the perfect direction....You are better off phoning down to someone in the house using the TV signal strength meter.

My TV has most channels including HD despite no lights It could be that the signal is a bit low but can still be received see http://www.wolfbane.net/cgi-bin/tvd.exe? which should give an indication of signal level, if it is good then the Signal meter may have a fault.

How many lit LEDs is a usable signal

I bought this to check the signal level at a couple of sockets which we haven't used yet. I got one/two LEDs lit, It says that's 50 to 60 dBuV is that strong enough signal to drive a TV.

One and two LED’s should be OK, generally with a steady 50dB or better level you should get a good signal on the TV, although if you can get around 70 to 80dB that would be what most professional installers would aim as even in adverse conditions the TV signal will still be good enough for Freeview signals.

Can this be used to detect signal on coaxial?

We have 3 cables coming into the flat and all are cut. Need to remove 2 of the cables before the floor goes on so need to test which is 'live'.

The 27867R/S would most likely not be accurate enough to differentiate the small changes of signal levels required to accurately align the Aerial.
