The effectiveness of this wedge will also depend on the hardness of the wood and it should never be used on a damp wood, as it may stay lodged in the log. It is best paired up with 6lb maul and should be hit from the top and not diagonally as it may break at the tip. Good luck.

Good morning — Metalmangler, Thank you for your question. Wood grenade is suitable for splitting loose logs thus it will not be suitable for removing tree stump. There are various methods used to remove tree stumps, such as tree stump slicer, saw, axe, salts, etc. We trust this helps.

I have used these for a few years. Often I use a wrecking saw to put slices through the top of the log and invariable tapping the wedge in then works well. If would is hard a 25mm wood drill makes a small hole that starts the wedge off well.

It works best when used with 6lb/8lb splitting maul or sledge hammer and must be used by hitting it from the top.
