Rated 3 out of 5 by from Works half as good as should The pegler tmv works as it should, in regards to mixing hot and cold water at a desired temperature. However the built in check valves fail, I have fitted about 20 of these and only after a few months I've had to fit additional single check valves to about 5 because of the inbuilt check valves just not working. Would recommend fitting check valves when installing to prevent having to return a few months later

Use on unbalanced supply?

Can this be installed where the hot water pressure is around 3 bar (from unvented cylinder) and the cold is taken from the mains at around 5 bar.
Asked by: Chrisa6
We will always recommend balanced pressures wherever possible, and given that the maximum working pressure is 5 bar you may need to fit a pressure reducing valve on the cold. But the valve will operate as long as the pressure ratio is within 1:5 (which it obviously is in your case) For full installation instructions please see the link below... https://www.pegleryorkshire.co.uk/EN/Brands/Pegler_Prestex/Thermostatic_Mixing_Valves/Thermostatic_Mixing_Valves/product/PEG402_Thermostatic_Mixing_Valve

Hot inlet failure

What happens if the temperature of water to the hot inlet drops below the temperature of the cold inlet flow?
Asked by: Martin7081
The installation instructions at the following web page should help to clarify where and how these valves are installed https://www.pegleryorkshire.co.uk/EN/Brands/Pegler/Thermostatic_Mixing_Valves/Thermostatic_Mixing_Valves/product/PEG402_Thermostatic_Mixing_Valve?d=1

Hot fill

Can I connect cold inlet to warm outlet from combiboiler and hot inlet to electric boiling water from under-the-sink tank? Boiling water from tank will always be much hotter than the warm feed from combiboiler.
Asked by: Martin7081
No, the whole point of this product is to prevent scolding and it only operates when installed with hot water and cold water going into it.

Hot fill

Can I connect cold inlet to warm outlet from combiboiler and hot inlet to electric under-the-sink hot water tank? To combine immediate hot water from tank (which runs out) with infinite flow from combiboiler (which takes a while to arrive).
Asked by: Martin7081
No, this valve needs to be connected to hot and cold supplies. In the installation you describe, if you left the tap running you would have hot water going into both inlets and the valve would not be able to function.

Is this suitable for installation under a kitchen sink with the outlet going outside for a warm water outside tap?

Asked by: Smonio
Perfectly find dont forget to isolate and drain the tap in winter tho as warm water freezes faster also make sure its all insulated
