Rated 1 out of 5 by from Heats when it wants I had a perfectly good heating system but wanted the functionality of being able to turn it off when away and turn it on so the house would be warm if I came home early. But this thing randomly turns the heating in when it wants. The schedule is set to 9 deg from 11pm to 6 am (why 9 deg and not off I don’t know, that’s the lowest it goes). So why it turns on at 4 am waking me up with house boiling is beyond me. Save yourself the trouble. Or better still if you desperately still want one you can have mine for free just pay to have my old thermostat and control put back!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great thermostat I previously had Hive in my own home, which I found unreliable! After installing a few Nest at my customers requests I was massively impressed by how it work and the quality of the unit in comparison to my Hive unit. I have removed my Hive and fitted a Nest, the features such as far site and sunblock are great. Its very clever and learns the way your home heats to save you engery it also has in built weather compensation meaning you are always warm and cosy. It can link to the smoke/co alarms and turn your boiler off in an emergency, works with Amazon Alexa and many other third party products meaning you are not tied to 1 brand. Compared to the rival Hive at a similar price this unit is light years ahead.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Feeling of quality The Nest feels well engineered, as you would expect at the relatively high price point. The app works well and is intuitive. The farsight feature is a nice touch, displaying the weather or the time as you pass by.

Is Nest compatible with........

..... a Glow worm Ultracom 24hxi boiler and a Megaflo unvented indirect HW cylinder?
Asked by: PovMik
Hi there, Thank you for your question. The Nest Thermostat was designed to work with most wet/hydronic systems. In fact, it can work with any system that uses the same wiring principle (live, neutral, common, satisfied and call-for-heat). https://nest.com/uk/support/article/Which-heating-systems-are-compatible-with-the-Nest-Learning-Thermostat It can be compatible with your unvented HW cylinder, if the hot water is provided by your boiler (instead of an immersion system). The reason it doesn't work with immersion systems is because the Nest can only handle low current (up to 3A). https://nest.com/uk/support/article/Which-heating-systems-are-compatible-with-the-Nest-Learning-Thermostat#hot-water If your system is indirect, then your hot water is most likely heated by the boiler. If that is really the case, then it shouldn't work with the Nest Thermostat. Kind Regards, Team Nest UK

Is the thermostat battery powered? i.e. can you move it from room to room or is it fixed to a wired point?

Asked by: Anonymous
Hi there, Thank you for your question on the Nest Thermostat. The Nest is not designed to be moved from place to place and does require a constant power supply. This can be hardwired through the wall or powered on a stand which includes a USB cable and adaptor. You can find more information on this in the below link. https://nest.com/uk/support/article/If-the-Nest-Thermostat-is-a-wireless-thermostat-why-does-it-need-cables Team Nest UK

Can the heat link be wired using old thermostat wiring?

I would like to keep the Nest thermostats in different rooms to the current thermostats as they are poorly positioned. Can one heat link be wired using the current control panel wiring and the second (upstairs) using the current thermostat wiring?
Asked by: mhut82
Hi there, Thank you for your question. Usually, it is possible to use the current wires and just reconnect them to the Heat Link. It is difficult for us to confirm that without actually seeing the system. Only a Nest Pro would be able to confirm everything for you, once they are there. https://nest.com/support/images/misc-nest-thermostat-eu/gen3-install/3rd-gen-Nest-Learning-Thermostat-Install-Guide-UK.pdf Regards, Team Nest UK

Can the thermostat replace existing one using existing wiring

Asked by: Mreight82
Hi there, Thank you for your question. It really depends on your set up there and where those wires are going from an to. Most cases, the Nest Pros just need to connect one end of the wires to the base of the Nest Thermostat and the other end to the Heat Link, but they need to be there to confirm everything. If you have any more questions about the installation and compatibility, please give us a call or send us a message on Twitter. https://nest.com/uk/support/contact-us/ Regards, Team Nest UK
