Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Quality Switch Excellent quality switch which I have used to replace an old and faulty shower isolation switch. I chose this because it is a nice beefy 50A rating which is more than enough for our 9.5 kW shower. All the screw terminals are of great quality and they feel nice and secure when doing them up. Wiring positioning is easy and the quality of the plastics is also excellent. The switch action has a nice positive feel to it so should last many years. I like the rocker switch being white as apposed to Red or Orange in colour to provide a cleaner look. Fitting was easy and we used the same surface mounted box from the old switch. It was 40mm deep. This MK faceplate is slightly rounded at the edges which is much more pleasing to the eye. For me, I didn't like the fact the neon light was always illuminated when there was power to the switch from the distribution board but, being MK, they have thought of this and you can unplug the neon light terminals and swap them with the switch / load side so that when the shower is powered on via the switch, the light is on. You also get some stickers in the box to label up your device should you wish. it is certainly worth paying a little extra for MK stuff since they are always of top notch quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from All good so far MK is an established brand of high quality. Bought to replace an existing MK switch of lower rating. Works fine and easy to operate the switch on or off. Used to control a new shower.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from MK quality product Operation feels quality. Looks quality and appears well made. Impossible to judge reliability at this stage. Note the need for a deeper pattress box.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality product Bought this to replace a shower switch at my son's house which was overheating and failing intermittently (later turned out that one of the rockers behind the switch had sheared off). Other than live and neutral being the opposite way round to the existing switch this was very straightforward to fit and was clearly more solid and far better quality than the existing one. Only left 3 stars for reliability because it was only fitted two days ago and I would expect it to have lasted until today. But as I said it does feel quality and I can't imagine we will have a problem with it.

Why is this this switch described as "2 Gang" surely it is 2 Pole

Asked by: daytonamick
The "2 gang" refers to the size of the switch and not the function. The 2 gang is almost the twice the size of 1 gang. The 2 pole refers to the wiring configuration at the back of the switch. You can also have a 2 pole 1 gang switch which does the same job but in a smaller switch.

Can you use this item for electric shower

Asked by: Anonymous
I am going to use that as well as shower isolator. I see no reason why not use it. By the way what is IPX of that one, wondering if can be in zone 2?

What back box for plasterboard should I use for this, is it a standard 2 gang one?

Does this switch fit into a normal 2 gang dry-lining box, and anything special to be aware of? Do I just mount the dry-lining box vertically and bring the cable down the side to the entry point?
Asked by: JWFAddy
MK only offer a 35mm dry lining box - a min 45mm box is required for the high current switches
