Want to run a cable to the far end of the garage (circa 10m). Planning using 2.5mm 3 core (83956) cable. Spec of plug says up to 1.5mm cable? I'm running this off a household socket and it will be used to power typical DIY power tools. Advice welcome.
Hi JMS1974,
The terminal apertures are only just large enough to accommodate 1.5mm² cable cores, 2.5mm² cores will be too large to fit in unfortunately (and the overall cable diameter will be larger than the opening and cable clamp are capable of coping with as well), so you will need to stick with 1.5mm² cable for connection into the trailing socket.
If you want to use 2.5mm² cable due to the length of the run then you may be better hooking it into the rear of the wall socket and looping it to a new wall socket close to the area you want to use the trailing socket, then connect the trailing socket using a short length the smaller diameter cable.
