Rated 5 out of 5 by from Don’t mess about with PVA Have used this to prime mapei screeds before tiling and laying laminate floors and have never had any issues. It goes really far, drys fast and goes down easily. For what it costs I wouldn’t entertain just using watered down PVA as if you have any warranty issues then at least you’ve covered yourself.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from concrete floor priming used prior to levelling 20 sq m of concrete floor. Watered back to 25%, and 2 applications, with 2 hour wait between coats, and 2 days prior to levelling. No bubbles in levelled floor, and leveller applied really nicely. Never going to use PVA again, as it doesn't do the job on concrete floor.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent This product is the bees and eees, do not use other products for sealing walls for tiling. This is the best thing on the market for preparing your walls for tiling, the adhesive will take to it, and no worries of falling tiles, great coverage, pity they don't do a smaller tub, but the cost reflects that....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice! This stuff's the nuts. Used on dusty concrete to seal before screeding, on plaster board before skimming and on the finished plaster itself before paining. This is acrylic so will not form a 'skin' like PVA does and so allows the surface to still breath and dry. PVA just seals in the moisture and will peel eventually.

Impey Waterguard

Hi, I'm installing electric underfloor heating on top of Impey Waterguard membrane and need to lay self levelling screed to protect cables and level floor prior to tiling. Do I need to use the primer before laying compound?. Thanks
Asked by: TB1412
Tanking membranes are always the last product to be laid prior to installing the tiles. The electric under tile heating system should be installed directly onto the prepared subfloor, which if cement based should be primed using Mapei Primer G. The electric under tile heating system can then be encapsulated using Mapei Ultraplan Renovation screed 3240 cement based fibre reinforced smoothing compound ensuring a minimum thickness of 3mm is allowed above the cables. Once fully dry the required tanking system can be installed.

What dilution ratio for plywood.

Hello, I’m putting large floor tiles onto a plywood substrate. What ratio to water should I mix it to prime the ply. Thanks.

Can I use this on top of Zinsser BIN primer sealer & stain killer?

I put Zinsser bin primer sealer & stain killer on bare plasterboard first before checking if it would then be ok to coat with Primer G. Thanks
Asked by: TeddyAmok
Mapei Primer G is recommended for absorbent surfaces for example plaster surfaces prior to fixing ceramic tiles, preparing cement- based surfaces prior to smoothing with self-levelling or thixotropic smoothing compounds. You could try abrading the surface with sand paper to remove the primer you have already used and then apply the Mapei Primer G. For more help/information please contact our Technical department.
