The LED should turn on/off with the switch. Please check that the wiring diagram has been followed correctly, with the supply connected to the IN terminals and the appliance to the OUT terminals. The LED will be connected on the appliance side, so should be isolated from the power and off when the switch is off.
It's not that the switch is wired wrongly exactly, more like upside down. The switch will still operate and isolate the appliance if wired 'upside down', but the LED won't turn off as it is on the supply side and always connected to the mains.
