Rated 5 out of 5 by from Innovative design Replacing a ceiling rose fixture with 2 way loop, I was baffled as to how to reconnect the wiring and keep it compact for the new chandelier housing on the ceiling. Trawled through the screwfix directory and came across these push in connectors with 1,2 or 3 wire connectors. I figured I had nothing to lose and bought the 80pc set considering that I had a number of ceiling roses to replace and rewire. What an ingenious design and simple to use. The mass of wiring was redone with such ease and a compact, sturdy end result which I was very proud of. It is a good quality product and the box is great too, with several extra dividers to utilize the case efficiently. As always, reasonably priced and available to collect the same day, great service from Screwfix!

Poor description

Fantastic saying it’s a 120 piece box but how many of each connector is there in the box.

Do these need secondary insulation (box/sleeve) ? Would be using on ring main repair behind plaster board.

All Push-In connectors (and SpliceLine) should always be installed in conjunction with a suitable 'enclosure' to protect the inner cores. Only the outer sheathing of the main cables should be visible when installed. If the connection is to be concealed behind a plasterboard wall without future access, a suitable 'Maintenance Free' enclosure should be used to meet the 'Maintenance Free' standard (MF). If the connections are accessible for future inspection then a standard, lower cost enclosure can then be used. IDEAL does not currently offer connector enclosures but there are various types available on the market.

It says in the description that only the 2/3/4 port connectors are 32 amp rated. Does this mean the SpliceLine isin't if so what is the rated current?

Once the cable is in the unit can it be removed or is it designed to be permanent? I know that the Wago ones have a 'lever' so that the cable can be removed if need be.

Hi, IDEAL also supplies a range of 'lever' style connectors which are designed to allow wires to be easily removed. These connectors accept solid, semi-rigid and flexible wires. IDEAL push-in wire connectors and the 'SpliceLine' connector are deigned to give more permanent connections. However, like other push-in connectors on the market today, wires can be released by simultaneously giving a pull and twist motion. However, as stated, for a truly re-usable connector, we would recommend the IDEAL In-Sure Lever style connectors.
