Would this work if I placed it in the back of my van? The van would be approximately 2-3 metres away from the hub, so if anyone gets into the back of my van to rob me of my tools would it send an alert to my phone straight away?

Hi there, unfortunately we would not recommend this type of set up as the Hive motion sensor requires a 24/7 connection to the Hive hub within the same building, as the signals would be travelling through external walls through the open air and into the van this is going to cause issues with signal and the device will drop off line and cannot be relied on.
Thanks,

Does it work with bulbs
Can the sensor turn light on if triggered
Asked by: DIYAustin
This device will turn on/off a bulb , however the bulb needs to be a Hive bulb and a Hive hub is also required to support this activity.
I’m currently using this sensor with a Hive GU10 bulb in a cupboard so when the cupboard door opens or close it activates the bulb.

External use
Can this be used externally to turn on security lights via Hive smart plug?

Hi there
The motion sensors are designed for indoor use only, we don't recommend using them outside the house as they can be affected by weather conditions and the signal strength will drop considerably, meaning the sensor can lose connection to the Hive hub.

Will this MOTION DETECTOR tell Alexa it has triggered.
Hi,
Hive answered a previous qestion talking about the heating system. This device is not part of the heating system, its a motion detector. My question is simple, will this devvice report to an Alexa plus unit that it has detected motion.

Hi George, I'm afraid our sensors do not work with Alexa currently - only the plugs, lights and heating. I've included a wee link that tells you more about this below: https://www.hivehome.com/connects-with/alexa
Hope this has provided a wee bit of further clarity :) Thanks, ^KO
