My old LP241 unit installed when house built over 25 years ago started playing up (CH not activating when selected but would with HW selected at same time) So read some reviews which stated that you could swap old for new without changing the back plate. Little bit suspect as in this day & age you'd expect a manufacturer to completely change the unit from something 20+ years old. But reviews were correct. It was a doddle to change. Undo the two retaining screws at bottom of unit and ease up and out (make sure power is off though!!) I was tempted to change the connecting plate but after cleaning the contacts on existing plate it looked good to go. Pushed unit in and attached 2 screws. Job done. Thanks to all previous reviewers I now have heating over Christmas without a hefty service engineers call out charge. Nice

I need a replacement for a Honeywell st699 programmer. Would a Drayton lp241 be suitable. Any problems with fitting?

Yes it will be, but you will need to rewire the backplate.

Suitable replacement for ancient Horstmann 423 Diamond?

I need a replacement for the old horstmann 423 Diamond for my GCH. Obviously will need to fit new back backplate and rewire. The horstmann has wires to L N E 2 4. Is the LP241 a suitable replacement?

You will need to rewire the whole programmer, The links between L-1-3 are not required. If you have any concerns please consult a qualified installer to carry out the work.

Volt free contacts

Can this be used for volt free contacts. In other words do I need to put a link in to make it 230 volts. I have a electric boiler that has volt free contacts. Many thanks.

Being a two chanel programmer the LP241 isn't volt free, i.e, 240v only. Our single channel programmers are volt free, for instance the LP111, LP711. They can be either 240v or 24v.
