Rated 1 out of 5 by from Returned 2 in a month. We had one of these for 5 years, used heavily without issue so thought another one would be a good idea. wrong. First one arrive "sealed" opened the box and it was used and in bits with screws missing. Clearly a returned item that found itself back on the shelf. Second drill, drilled one hole and died. I love Dewalt but this drill sucks. the price has decreased over the last 5 years but so has the quality. Avoid at all costs.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Failed twice under warranty Failed twice under warranty. The second failure was 1 month before the 2-year warranty ran out. They replaced it with a new one. Its gearbox died ON THE FIRST HOLE. I am a hearting engineer, so this machine does good a reasonable amount of use. Maybe once every 2 weeks. The chuck on this is horrendous. It comes undone all the time when coring. By the end, the jaws were mangled. I have upgraded to the Makita. The difference is massively noticeable. The clutch doesn't scream all the time, the chuck stays shut and it feels quicker (but that is subjective). I used to respect DeWalt. I won't be buying their gear anymore. I used their early 18v range for 7 years and it was bomb proof. If you need this for a few holes and hiring doesnt make economical sense, then buy it. If you need a reliable, durable machine.....don't buy it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not a good product This product has been sub standard from start to finish , had very light use and started smouldering and smoking as soon as it hit a slight bit of resistance.. a colleague of mine has had two of them in as many years same problem.. A very weak product do not buy Shop won’t replace even though within warranty, have to send for repair. Now I can’t finish the job I started

Drilling 6" or 152 mm hole with Diamond Core Bit

Can this drill be used to drill a 6" hole with a diamond core bit into a 9" thick brick wall - say for a extractor fan or soil waste pipe?
Asked by: jpv1960
it would be capable of this, however a larger drill is recommended if to be used for this application on a regular basis
