Rated 1 out of 5 by from Did'nt Work The title says it all, i installed it to feed a metal bathroom cabinet but the lights wouldn't work. Took it off & checked & there was no neutral on the load side Returned for a refund & purchased the much better rated item at twice the price

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible. Broke instantly! I had a job of installing an extra socket for a customer where the circuit had no RCD protection. I used this BG RCD spur, installed it but when I pressed the RCD test button it made a weird buzzing sound and tripped out. I reset it and it would not trip again even on an RCD test. I had to disconnect and swap for a TimeGuard RCD spur which even though it was twice the price it works perfectly and feels like good quality.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not suitable for outdoor spur I bought this to replace a previous unit that had failed after a few years which provided protection for a spur to an outside socket. Only after opening the pack and reading the leaflet was there a note saying that since it is latched, it is not suitable for protecting outdoor circuits. This should be made clear on the Screwfix website, as it is I have a unit I can't use and as it's been opened I doubt I can get a refund either.

Whirlpool bath

Can i spur of a socket to this and then to a whirlpool bath. The rcd will be in the boiler cupboard
Asked by: Dmbrjb
Hi Dmbrjb, As long as you don't try to run more than 13A (3120W / 3.12kW) through it then what you propose should not have any negative impact.

Can I change the fuse without switching off at the main fuse box.

Asked by: fretwej
Hi fretwej, We would advise that you trip the unit out (press the TEST button) first to disconnect the contacts, then it will be perfectly safe to change the fuse and then RESET the unit back into working condition.

can this be installed in a bathroom in a zone 2 area?

Asked by: wadworks
Hi wadworks, Zone 2 in a bathroom requires an IP rating of 44, this FCU has an IP rating of only 20 (as is standard with such products) so would not be suitable.
