How long can the applied primer be left before applying the flashband, can it sit for a few days or weeks before applying the band
The Bostik Flashband Primer is a bitumen based primer which is applied to porous substrates such as concrete, wood, brickwork and stonework and allowed to dry before application of the Flashband. ( for non-porous substrates such as metal, UPVC, rigid PVC and polycarbonate, the primer is not required. ) It is recommended to apply the Flashband to the primed surface as soon as possible after the primer has completed drying, with the drying time being typically 4 to 6 hours, although this can vary according to local conditions. After the primer has dried, if left as is, then over time, the surface will pick up dust and material blowing in the wind, and if rained on, then this can also deposit fine dirt and material. This could interfere with the overall bonding performance when the Flashband is applied (Which could include a de-bond ), as well as affect the overall bond strength of the application when in service.
