Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cracking product with a but This stuff is great, does exactly what is says on the tin, I used it to seal edges of joined stapled shed felt, it goes on really well, sealed nearly straight away, sealing several long thin strips (approx 3 inch x 16 m, I ran out just before the last strip, so I would say it covers less than the amount stated, but at that price it is just better to buy two and make sure you have enough

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent for bonding to brick This primer is excellent to promote better bonding to porous brickwork and painted render. Flashband can sometimes be temperamental sticking to painted surfaces or some bricks. This primer solves that and gives a good watertight seal

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Adheres Well I bought this along with the Flashband to breach a gap between a galvanised steel roof and garage wall. It was easy to apply and does the job perfectly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Disappointed I used Bostik Primer prior to applying the Flashband, I used a roller to apply the Flashband but had difficulty getting it to stick well. The backing paper would not come off cleanly, and left small strips at the sides. My opinion is that it was stored on its side, causing it to stick at the edges.

How this primer reacts to PU paint?

Plan is applying this primer on to concrete floor like damp proof barrier (have few damp spots what newer dries). After this -PU primer and Pu floor paint. Or maybe you can recommend different product? Thank you Andrius
Asked by: Andrius07
Bostik Flashband Primer is a bitumen solution, for priming/sealing brickwork, cement renderings, roof tiles, concrete, mineralised felt, timber, metal, rainwater pipes, gutters and corrugated sheeting prior to applying Flashband. It would not be suitable for use on a concrete floor to perform as a damp proof membrane or barrier.

Is this suitable for painting plastic?

I need to paint plastic containers to exclude light.
Asked by: Shieldsman
The Bostik Flashband Primer Black 500 ml is a solvent based bitumen primer deigned for exterior application to porous materials such as concrete. wood, brick and stone where it is left to dry for a few hours, however it is not suitable to be applied to any plastics as such. ( Once dry, the Flashband ( which is a resin modified bitumen flashing tape ) is applied to it, and the Flashband then bonds to this. ) Consequently, it is not suitable to be applied to plastic containers to extrude light.

Primer delay

How long can the applied primer be left before applying the flashband, can it sit for a few days or weeks before applying the band
Asked by: Perthbmc
The Bostik Flashband Primer is a bitumen based primer which is applied to porous substrates such as concrete, wood, brickwork and stonework and allowed to dry before application of the Flashband. ( for non-porous substrates such as metal, UPVC, rigid PVC and polycarbonate, the primer is not required. ) It is recommended to apply the Flashband to the primed surface as soon as possible after the primer has completed drying, with the drying time being typically 4 to 6 hours, although this can vary according to local conditions. After the primer has dried, if left as is, then over time, the surface will pick up dust and material blowing in the wind, and if rained on, then this can also deposit fine dirt and material. This could interfere with the overall bonding performance when the Flashband is applied (Which could include a de-bond ), as well as affect the overall bond strength of the application when in service.
