Rated 2 out of 5 by from Spade crimps Having installed and run the 15l version and highly rated it, was incredibly disappointed with this smaller version. Completely different design inside, wiring totally different. Have to partly agree with first reviewer. No terminals inside. Needs spade crimps to terminate the power supply cable inside the unit. Not difficult providing you have crimps and crimp tool. But additional expense if not. Would be useful if the description says this as it does not. Also the manual doesn’t explain this.

I wouldn’t usually write a review to counter another but having fitted a lot of these units I don’t recognise the issues raised by the other review. The cabling is fairly easy, remove front panel, pass the cable through a tube from the rear (this is the most difficult part but it’s usually a few seconds work) and then use the terminal blocks in the unit to connect. I’ve never needed to use spade connectors to wire in one of these heaters. Maybe the other reviewer had a unit missing the connection block for some reason? My biggest complaint with these units is that the plastic connectors provided to electrically isolate it from the pipe work are an absolute nightmare to get watertight. They sometimes develop a weep later too even after you’ve spent a while ensuring they are tight and leak free on the day. To be fair that’s only happened once or twice and we’ve fitted about 50 but those dialectic spacers could do with a redesign. But in all they’re fairly attractive for a water heater, do the job and are well priced so can’t complain.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poorly designed If you buy this item. When wiring you have to strip the unit down on both sides to get the cable in. On top of this the terminals are a spade connector. Would I recommend this product. Not really due to the amount of time getting extra parts to make it work. Basic connections should be in the boiler. Maybe the manufacturer make take this on board.

Does this heater need a vented tap?

Can this be fitted to a hot water supply where there is a long pipe run from the hot water tank?

So the water comes out hot to start, thus allowing time for the hot water from the cylinder to arrive. Will the cold water initially the pipe cause a dip in temperature?

expansion vessel

Does this unit contain the required check valve and expansion tank for an unvented system

there is no expansion vessel in this heater, it relies on the supply pipework to provide the required expansion. If there is not sufficient length of pipework to do so then a separate expansion vessel should be fitted - item no. 21261
