(24 products)An RCD, an acronym for residual current device, is a safety component installed into a fuse box as a type of breaker. Also referred to as a consumer unit RCD for this reason, they are designed to prevent electric shocks and damage to an appliance in the event of a fault with the current or power supply. They automatically trip if a problem is detected and immediately cut off the power. RCD units are available in a range of types and amp ratings to suit any circuit requirements. An RCCB is a residual current circuit breaker which acts as the same component but without the overload protection.
