Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the extra cash Bought for a newly plastered ceiling, put on two coats as per the instructions. So pleased with the finish tried it on the mdf skirting board and door. Easily the best paint I've ever used, don't know how long it'll last, but bought another tin as the missus wants all the doors done the same! I've used the exterior black satin previously and similarly good results. Glad I paid the extra cost for this paint.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Disappointed After all the superb reviews I had high hopes, but I’ve been really disappointed. The main purpose for buying this paint is that it claims to be suitable for use over pre-painted surfaces with no sanding - that was really important and why I chose this paint. However unless the surface is keyed, the paint easily peels straight off, even when fully cured. After wasting a tonne of time and effort, I’ve now tested a door frame with an area sanded and and area not sanded. The sanded area has bonded well, the non-sanded area peels and flakes off with little effort. This is the same result as a much cheaper standard paint. I now need to strip, sand and repaint several doors and frames. I should’ve been more cynical and only painted a tiny area. However the full cure time is a week and I needed the work done. I believed the hype. I did contact the manufacturer and in fairness things were treated seriously and they wanted to help, but they wanted photographic and physical evidence and for me to complete a large form. When I said that I didn’t really want to do this, that was pretty much the end of that! I wasn’t offered further advice and no refund or exchange. I obviously won’t buy this again. Standard mid-range satin paint has given the same results.

Will this work on an MDF bath panel?

Asked by: MichaelFl
Hello Thank you for your enquiry. If the bath panel has been previously painted then the self-priming paint may be applied direct, however if this is bare mdf then two coats of Bulls Eye 123 primer/sealer (10135 & 10136) should be applied prior to the top coat. Two coats of the Bulls Eye 123 would need to be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat with a re-coat time of 1 hour. I hope this helps.

Can I add a tint to this

Hi. This sounds a great product for my bathroom ceiling but I wanted to tint it gray by adding some black paint. If I used some water soluble black paint would this work?
Asked by: Rich61
Hello Thank you for your enquiry. Mixing an alternative paint into the Perma-White is not something we would recommend as this will likely have a different formula to our paint and may change the properties of the paint. Our recommendation would be to use a paint of the colour required. I hope this helps.

Ive got peeling on my ceiling in my bathroom is this the best paint to use ?

Asked by: Shelley43
Hello Thank you for your enquiry. Perma-White self priming paint will be perfect for application to your bathroom ceiling. Two coats would need to be applied by brush or roller at coverage rate of approximately 10m2/litre/coat, with a re-coat time of 2 hours in normal drying conditions. If the surface this is to be applied to is bare plaster, a suitable primer shoudl be used such as Bulls Eye 123 (10135). any loose r flaky paint should be taken back to a sound, feather edged surface. Once this has been achieved and the area has been cleaned and is dry, you may apply your first coat of Perma-White. I hope this helps.

Can zinsser perma white satin really be applied on previously painted surfaces without sanding down ? Or would it benefit for a sanding down in the long term durability of the surface

Can I spray it with HVLP spray gun and should I dilute with water ?
Asked by: CT1234
Hello Thank you for your enquiry. Perma-White can be applied directly to the previously painted surface in two coats. This should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/litre/coat, with a re-coat time of approximately 2 hours. While no sanding is required before applying the Perma-White, if the surface is glossy, a light abrade would assist the paint to adhere. We recommend to ensure the surface to be painted is clean, dry, sound and free from any surface contamination such as dirt, oils, grease, mould, mildew, rust, loose or flaking paint etc that are likely to affect the performance of any subsequent coats of paint; to ensure this we advise the following prior to painting, clean down with hot soapy water, rinse with warm water and when dry have a good wipe over with methylated spirits to promote good adhesion. I hope this helps.

Will it fully bond to old shiny gloss paint without sanding?

I’ve bought and used this product on 3 doors and frames. It’s admittedly only been a couple of days but it’s fully dry and will easily peeling off with my nail. Will this greatly improve? It doesn’t seem to have bonded at all.
Asked by: Raziel20
Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. Zinsser Self-Priming paint is able to be applied over a previously painted surface, providing this is sound and clean, reaching full cure after 7 days. We are confident the product is fit for purpose, however if you are still experiencing this problem once full cure has been reached, please contact us at techsupport@tor-coatings.com I hope this helps.
