Rated 5 out of 5 by from Absolutely brilliant I use this primer for everything inside and out, (except for knotted wood which needs Zinsser BIN to prevent bleeding). Brilliant primer for plaster, MDF, all types of wood (without knots), painting over wallpaper and painting over gloss paint without sanding. Hides stains well and great for hiding strong paint colours when overpainting. Perfect for priming ceilings. Remember to clean surfaces properly first (sugar soap is the bees knees for prep). I painted an external wood framed window with this 3 years ago on my own house and of course never found time to apply a top coat. Despite all weathers its still perfect which says it all. Beware some people are sensitive to the smell until overpainted with topcoat. I always wear my A2P3 mask when painting with Zinsser 123 or BIN indoors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Does exactly what it claims House had patches of silk paint interspersed with matt when we moved in - suspect previous occupants used silk to patch up walls and ceilings prior to sale. Also had mould in bathroom and kitchen. We used this paint as a base coat and found matt paint then adhered properly to areas previously painted with silk, Areas of mould were also covered up and mould has not re-appeared.

Painting Kitchen Cupboards

Hello Is this suitable for Priming Kitchen Cupboards before paint, the Cupboards are solid wood with a Lacquer topcoat finish. Thanks Mike
Asked by: Mikey38
Hello Thank you for your enquiry. Bulls Eye 123 primer will be perfect for the project you are looking to undertake. We recommend giving the area a good clean down with hot soapy water, rinsing with warm water before wiping with methylated spirits. Once this is dry, you may brush or roller apply the primer at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat, with a re-coat time of 1 hour. Any decorative top coat, oil or water based may then be applied. I hope this helps.

I have painted a primer over a wooden door, that had previously been stained with a satin finish. As a result, the primer just scratches off and does not stick. Do I have to remove this primer before painting with 123 or can I just paint over it.

Asked by: Anonymous
Hello Thank you for your recent enquiry. When applying any of our primers we recommend that the surface this is being applied to is sound, as the previously applied primer is scratching off this would need to be removed before applying any other paint. While Bulls Eye 123 primer is excellent at providing good adhesion while promoting great key, as you are looking to prime over a previously stained finish, a more suitable primer would be Cover Stain (17114) which can be applied to both interior or exterior projects. One or two coats of this should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat, with a re-coat time of 2 hours. Once dry, your choice of decorative top coat may be applied. I hope this helps.

Recommended product for upvc

Hello What products would you recommend for interior and exterior uPVC. Currently dark brown wanting to have a topcoat of white or grey.

Hello Thank you for your enquiry. The Bulls Eye 123 primer would be perfect for providing good adhesion to the upvc, while promoting great key for your top coat. You will need to ensure the area has been cleaned, degreased and is dry, prior to applying the primer. One or two coats of the primer should be applied by brush or roller at a coverage rate of approximately 10m2/L/coat, with a re-coat time of 1 hour. Once this has dried, your choice of decorative top coat may be applied, either oil or water based. I hope this helps.
