Hi is this tape double sided, and strong enough to hold up smoke alarms on the ceiling - and also to withstand the nudging that happens when a user attempts to prise the lid off and change the battery?
Hi - this tape actually comes in two strips; one 'hook' strip (which is self adhesive) and one 'fluff' strip (which is again self adhesive). You cut the length to fit the appliance, stick the hook side to the appliance and the fluff side to the location you want to fit the appliance. I would think that the hook and fluff is definitely strong enough to support a fire alarm but it depends if the ceiling is dust free to allow the adhesive to stick. Your user could then unhook the alarm completely from the ceiling, change the battery and then velcro it back into position, if that is what you are after?
I use it to stick my GPS to my reserve parachute on a paraglider; it keeps it in place when I am flying but allows me to peel it off without fuss when I pack it all away...
