Rated 2 out of 5 by from Hinges spoiled by poor screws The hinges looked to be good quality and I was pleased that they fitted the toilet seat and lid. Unfortunately when using the 8 screws provided to fit the hinges to the lid and the seat 3 of the screws provided broke at the head when being tightened to stop the seat and lid wobbling. THE SCREWS PROVIDED ARE OBVIOUSLY OF POOR QUALITY AND SHOULD NOT BE USED. I then used the old screws from the original hinge to fit to seat and lid. I was able to tighten these screws fully and fix the seat and lid securely despite some rust on the old screws.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Replacement for corroded hinge The hinges and attachment are fine. But don't use the screws that come with it - they're made of cheese. I.e. so soft that when tightened into a hardwood toilet seat, the crosshead deformed making them impossible to screw in further, or to remove. Also, ignore the instructions. They are translated by someone whose first language is not English. E.g. "Screw out A part" (instead of "Unscrew part A") and "ATTENTION: HANDLE 2 IS HIGHER THAN HANDLE" - without defining what Handle 2 and Handle are. In fact, "Handle" is used throughout the instructions for several different parts of the hinge.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor fitting Bought these like everyone else to replace the hinges on a perfectly good toilet seat. The seat originally fitted level on the pan, but with the new hinges it doesn’t, it is now twisted somehow. Had to drill holes as not in the same place as original hinges but this can be expected. However, steel screws are provided, they really ought to be stainless steel, and would have been too small for the existing screw holes had the fittings been in the same place. Wouldn’t bother to replace toilet seat hinges with these again.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good product. Good replacement for our resin seat as matched the holes. Seat arm was 4.5cm from back of seat edge to end. (another brand was only 4cm so be careful. Post is in an octagonal nut so less likely to move from base plate put can still be adjusted.

Are the screws fixed to the hinge as one part, or do you have to screw them in separately??

Asked by: camlittlemiss
Hello camlittlemiss, The screws are not fixed to the hinge as one part, you have to screw them in separately. If you would like a copy of the instructions to check if this would be suitable, please drop an email across to online@screwfix.com Thanks for using Q&A

Will these fit all wooden toilet seats ?

Have got a Croydex Fitzroy solid oak toilet seat, fitted less than a year ago but the Sit-Tight hinges supplied were rubbish, cheap chrome-effect plastic, have broken already & beyond repair. Would these more robust looking hinges fit OK ? Thanks.
Asked by: davethegashead
Hello davethegashead, these are a universal hinge so they should fit most seats but we cannot comment on specific seats as they won't have been tested. Thank you for using Q&A

What are the hole centres for the fixings?

I want to use these to replace broken existing hinges. What is the distance centre to centre of the two fixing holes in the hinge plates. I assume it's the same for upper and lower hinges.
Asked by: Dave16New
the holes are 15mm between centres and about 40mm from the hinge centre line to the furthest hole. Same centres for both upper and lower hinge, but upper is 45mm from hinge centre to furthest hole. Why this isn't on the description is beyond me, come on Screwfix!
