Rated 3 out of 5 by from An average Setting tool I recently purchased this setting tool. It’s an average tool. I borrowed my mates setting tool from tool station, It was good, it did every brilliant. So I bought this version. It’s ok but feels very cheap even though it isn’t! The tool station version pulled the toggle back further and smoother. This version was all ‘notchy’ and weak.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Didn't last long Served a purpose and worked well to start with. Eventually snapped at the main spindle. Ok for DIY but not for trade use every day.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Somewhat disappointing Unfortunately, I was not able to get this product to perform consistently. When setting the anchors using this tool, some of them set true and evenly, whilst a few set at a slight angle (i.e. the screw then screwed in at an angle. And no, I didn't drill a hole at an angle). I imagine this is due to the sides of the anchor not collapsing evenly. Was this the fault of the tool, the anchor or the setter (i.e me)? I really don't know. Maybe Screwfix or a professional tradesperson could comment. Next time I'd be tempted to pay more for the Rawlplug tool, but it looks identical to this one apart from the branding.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wish I'd bought one years ago I've been using hollow wall anchors for years and have always fitted them the hard way, screwing them all the way up to fix the anchor. This tool saves 5 minutes per anchor, great bit of kit at a very reasonable price.

No instructions with this haw set tool. How do you use it?

Asked by: Anonymous
These are for mounting into plasterboard, & are better than bog standard raw plugs especially when you are hanging slightly heavier items. Simply drill hole in plasterboard sized as per manufacturers instruction. Insert wall anchor , then use setting tool (cost £12-15), which squeezes anchor until it grips wall tightly, then screw your item to wall. There are several examples of good instructions on Youtube (just enter setting tool) bobs you're uncle

Does this work with M5 and M6 Anchor bolts?

Asked by: GeorgyT
Find an M6 bolt with a head that will fit or (file/grind one down to fit) use that, then put the proper bolt in.
