Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality CU & great price The title says it all, this is a good quality Consumer Unit with loads of internal space, unlike some other brands. Though as a consequence realise that it is a large unit and may not always easily fit if you are replacing an old fuse box. The punch outs on the top and bottom are plentiful and in various sizes, plus there are large oblong punch outs in the rear to allow back cable entry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good CU Very good consumer unit and easy to work with. There is enough room inside to work with so you can keep you installation looking very presentable.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great distribution board Very sturdy distribution board with all the circuit breakers sitting nicely and plenty of space to terminate inside the board. The only downside as previously mentioned is where the neutral bars are located; both are vertically placed on each side of the board, meaning you’ll need plenty of cable to terminate. Great price and I’d definitely recommend.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Short-changed on the busbars There's much to like about this unit (lots of room, plenty of knock-outs, distinct neutral bars), but for some reason this particular kit (the R5R5 model) is sold with two 5-prong busbars. So unless you buy a separate Schneider busbar (not sold by Screwfix) then you can't use the full 6+6 configuration. Seems silly to me. Another gripe is that the internal layout assumes you'll be wiring from the top. Sadly this seems standard and is OK most of the time, but makes it hard to keep things neat if you have bottom-entry cables - and the bottom edge of the live shield leaves little room to take cables down through the unit.

Can I add an RCBO to this board?

I want to add an RCBO for the smoke/fire alarm circuit.
Asked by: CrisRH
Thank you for the enquiry this would be down to the installer as you would not normally drop this in an RCD boards, it would need to be on its own dedicated circuit to avoid any form of tripping please consult electrician on install.

What does the module on the board stand for or mean as I see many 10 way boards but the modules change in value?

Asked by: Bryan012
Thank you for your inquiry. The consumer unit is 18 module, a module is 18mm of one MCB way. This broken down 2 modules for the incomer, 4 modules for the two RCD's, 10 modules for the out going MCBs and 2 module is blanked off with blanking plate. Total modules 18.

Are the dimensions correct? The unit seems huge?

I assume this is a domestic 10 way fuse box? But why is it larger than other?
