Rated 4 out of 5 by from Perfect Works perfectly for hardening spalted wood ready for wopd turning.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well I needed to patch up a small area of a fence and before filling I used this to treat the surfaces I'd cleared. This was just what I needed. As it says, it dries hard to the wood and seals it against further damage from outside. You do need to make sure you cure the initial rot problem, but this will allow you to preserve the piece if it's going to be tricky to replace.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good stuff I use this to treat rotting window timber before filling with the epoxy filler, and it seems to do a good job of extending the life of my windows.

wood glue

Can wood treated with the hardener be joined with other piece of wood by gluing?
Asked by: WoG1
Thank you for your enquiry. The hardener should not be used as a surface treatment so it is unlikely you should encounter this issue. The hardener may impair the adhesion of the glue. I hope this helps

productivness

How big area can be cover with one 500ml container?
Asked by: WoG1
Thank you for your enquiry. The product can not be used as a surface treatment. The amount of area a 500ml tin would cover is difficult to say as it is much dependent on the absorbency of the timber. I hope this is somewhat helpful.

Rotten decking

Hi,my decking coming up due to timber underneath starting to rot, if I lifted the decking panels and treated timber with this would the panels then be able to be securely screwed down . thanks in advance
Asked by: Malboro
Thank you for your contact. This product should not be used as a surface treatment. It is used to stabilise the surface of an area where dead wood has been removed and filler is going to be applied. i hope this helps

Can I use Ronseal wood hardener as a sealer on a teak bench prior to painting it?

The bench is 50 years old and has been periodically treated with teak oil, but not for the last 3-4 years. I want to be sure that no residual oil leeches out to spoil the paint finish.
Asked by: Hoylander
Wet rot wood hardener would not be suitable for this application. Its sole purpose is to harden wood fibres left after rotten wood is dug out.

Might sound strange but do you think this would work on a old wooden boat? I’m not looking to make the boat water tight again just want to put it in the garden. The boat is well rotten and we just want to make it last a bit longer.

Asked by: Nick1978
Thank you for your enquiry. This product is not designed to harden rotten wood, but to stabalise the area after the decayed wood has been removed. It allows the filler used to repair the area to bond successfully. It may have some benefit in your case as you are not looking for a particularly robust repair but essentially the above is the intended purpose/use of the product.
