Rated 3 out of 5 by from Early days Bought this after reviewing several models. This one seems to have all the features and at a reasonable price. Arrived a little late but with COVID and Easter that is not surprising. Sharpener seems to be of sound metal construction and comes with second disc, guide plate, spare bushes and a stone. Worst feature is the manual tells you very very little. However a couple of searches on the internet reveals all. Easy to set up and easy to operate. Only used it the once but it seems to work ok. Certainly has sharpened the left teeth but not sure about the right ones. Still learning how to use this to maximum effect. Seems well made, not a bad price and seems to do all that is needed. May update this once I have used it more.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it says on the tin Instructions could be better but after I figured them out it worked ok. I could buy 3 new chainsaw blades for the cost of the machine but it gives me a new toy to play with.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great value for money I got fed-up working with blunt chains or buying new to avoid professional sharpening costs. Unless you have previous experience of using a sharpener the operating instructions are next to useless. I had to resort to Youtube videos to get an understanding of how to use. With a little knowledge the machine was pretty simple to use. Seems to do a reasonable job sharping chain. Too early to tell about reliability but I've now sharpened my 5 chains so its paid for itself. Does what is says on the tin so would recommend to others.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Should have bought it sooner! First off, let me say that I Um'd and Err'd about buying this for a couple of months......Bought a petrol chainsaw from Screwfix earlier in the year as I have 4 acres of ground here and there's always 'something' needs chopping up / cutting down! The chainsaw is good for my needs and rewarding / fun to use UNTIL the perishing chain dulls - (and sometimes that doesn't take long despite being careful - adjusting / plenty of chain oil etc ! ). A chainsaw with a blunt chain is about as useful as a kitchen knife!! Check that this tool is suitable for the size / pitch of your chains before clicking 'buy'! Having built up a 'stock' of six replacement (now blunt) Oregon chains I decided enough was enough and I needed a sharpening tool as new chains at £15 a time was getting expensive .......... As usual with Screwfix the box arrived promptly a few days later.......In the box you'll find the machine itself, pre-fitted with a 1/8" grinding wheel; a loose 3/16" grinding wheel (for the larger size chains); a bag containing spare motor brushes, a dressing stone for the grinding wheels and a plastic gauge for measuring wheel edge profiles / chain pitch etc etc. Lastly, the User Manual. The User Manual is absolutely useless! about a squillion different languages in tiny print. What English text there is tells you very little and they seem to expect you to work it out from a few dozen little thumbnail sized pics at the back of the book......... hopeless. So, do yourself a favour and spend 20 or 30 mins on Youtube as there are more than a few vids up there showing you how to set it up and use it.....time well spent! The machine itself seems straightforward enough though - build quality seems OK so far but it is definitely leans towards DIY / occasional use grade but maybe a useful thing to have in the back of the van if you're out and about and have a generator / inverter onboard? The gubbins needs bolting or clamping onto a bench or workmate with the front ( chain clamp) part extending over the edge of the table. Set-up consists essentially of setting the cutting depth of the wheel on a chain, the chain clamp angle (usually +30' RH teeth and -30' for LH teeth ) and finally adjusting the chain link stop to 'set' the amount of each tooth to be ground off. Once set-up the operation is fairly quick, you cut all the RH teeth first (i.e. every other tooth) and then rotate the clamp table to -30' and cut all the LH teeth. An entire 91 link chain took less than 10 mins, and I had all 6 chains sharpened ( and they are sharp ) in under an hour. Clean the muck and oil off the chains before hand (petrol?) so as to not contaminate the grinding wheel, and finally I like to finish off by washing the chains in 2-stroke fuel as this cleans them and when hung up to dry, leaves a fine film of 2T oil on them. Only gave this 4 stars because the user manual is rubbish and I've not had it long enough to comment on longevity / durability - but so far so good and at this stage, glad I took the plunge and bought it. Hope someone finds these comments useful.
