Rated 5 out of 5 by from good quality consumer unit Needed to replace old garage wiring on a 13amp fused switch, with something up to date, safe and straightforward. This MK garage consumer unit fitted the bill, was available same day with Screwfix (although had to wait a day for the right size 32mm glands to come in), and was straightforward to swap over / wire in (just waiting sign off) Good service from Screwfix, and a great video for this exact unit found on YouTube for competent people

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Never again!!!!!!!! So MK why not fit a 20mm knock-out or 2 would be better on each side and each end? Who wants 32mm and 25mm in these units?? Even a 20L gland kits fits in a 20mm hole and who's fitting more than a 10mm armoured cable in these? Trying to make the job spot on I did what I normally do on the wylex units and drilled a 20mm hole into the 32mm knock-out and guess what? First time in over 40 years on the tools the knock out fell out whilst cutting the hole. So instead of fitted a 32mm grommet and the job looking messy I stood the cost and went and got a different consumer unit. I love MK products but this is just a daft/bad design. Also if you want to fit your incoming cable via the top 20mm knockout try and fit the retaining nut for your gland behind the earth, neutral blocks!! I'm sticking to Wylex units, this cost me a full afternoon.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value garage unit. I've installed a number of these units in the past, and have found them straight forward to fit and connect up, with reasonable room to get the feed cables in without excessive bend.

Ip rating ?

The consumer unit complies with BSEN60529 meeting IP2XC. To maintain integrity when knock outs are removed, correct glanding is required to meet requirements of BS61439-3

RCD in Series?

Possibly a daft question. But, in my situation the run to this secondary Consumer Unit will be protected by an RCD in the main house. I *think* it's bad practice to run RCDs in series? Thus, with such a Consumer Unit, is it possible to remove the RCD leaving the main double pole switch and MCBs?
Asked by: TommyZ
You can run 2 RCDs say one in a house going to one in a shed but you need 'discrimination' between the two to avoid random trips. This is a acheieved by installing a timed delay RCD. You do need to speak to a registed electrician. this is notifiable 'Part P' work.
