Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good quality as expected Rather pricey as dimmer switches go, but the MK quality is there and it’s rated to 500 watts load ( more than some cheaper ones). A good positive push switch action and nice slow start. Comes with a spacer if you want to use it on a shallow back box ( hence confusion in the spec.) Also the face plate is a bit thicker than normal in this range. Easy access to terminal screws, from above, helps if wiring is a bit short. Nice , if minimalist, styling. Looks good.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Very noisy Sorry but I am very disappointed by MK resently. Very poor quality or quality management. First I a bought a MK logic plus LED dimmer (not available at screwfix). This was advertised as compatible for Led , halogen and normal Gls bulbs. It did kind of work with led bulbs but was buzzing and the led bulb started flickering after 10min (tried different bulbs/brands). OK, I thought dimming with led is always a bit if an issue so I got this MK dimmer for standard bulbs. It works nicly but it its incredibly noisy, even its a brick wall. This is unacceptable, other no name dimmers in the house which I was meant to replace are absolutely not noisy at all. MK, what's going on?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, slimline dimmer This dimmer is more expensive than some, but has the advantage that it works with low-voltage halogen fittings (containing a transformer). Dimming is smooth, with no flickering or flashing. Cheaper dimmers don't usually work so well with these fittings. It's also quite slim for an intelligent dimmer: it will fit a 16mm deep back box (with the supplied pattress). Only downside is that it's a little "buzzy" - probably because I am using it with a low-voltage fitting.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Too Noisy Went for this item as it is MK and the assumed market leader. The price should dictate you are getting a premium product.. Though it did everything a dimmer should do, I took it back as it was far too noisy. Though I understand you can get a hum from dimmers it’s not the 1980’s you should expect a lower level of hum. Once my daughter and wife both commented on it I chose to take it back and by a competitors at half the pice

Is this suitable to dim 200W of 12V Halogen

I plan to use this with 10 x fittings of G4 Halogen 12V - 20W. Is this dimmer suitable if wired to a Halolite Electronic Transformer 50-210VA (49365) from screwfix part No 49365 ?

Why would this switch buzz loudly even though I am well within the min/max wattage?

I have this switch running a light with 3 x 28w G9 halogens which are dimmable.

Depth of back box required?

Description says suitable for 16mm but specifications say 25mm
Asked by: F1Andy
Using the stand-off spacer that's included in the pack, I've just fitted one of these to a flush-with-the-plaster-surface 16mm backbox. But I also incorporated a light switch finger plate (available at your local DIY chainstore) to give me a couple more mm's tolerance.

Suitable for dimmable halogen and bathroom fan?

I need to replace my current switch which is a Phaseliner BGS400 2way dimmer which switches on/off 5 halogen spots and the fan in the bathroom - just trying to make sure this is a suitable replacement?
