Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great plug I bought this as I needed a good multi plug. Saw that this was surge protected and had individual switches which is very handy as I needed it for my children's bedroom for their lamps. I have tested it out and it is very reliable and the switches are handy when they are not in use instead of turning all 3 off at the mains or unplugging a plug. Highly recommend this plug for those that use multiple plugs but don't want the hassle of turning off the mains all the time.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Just fell apart!! Bought about 18 months ago - 12 months warranty. It tripped and when it tripped it just fell apart! Two of the switch buttons popped out of the case - the small plastic lugs holding them in had broken and the third I can see it is cracked. I suppose it worked but I didn't think it should self destruct.

Can I use this to plug a freezer into to protect other items on the circuit? It creates quite a spike when it switches off. If not what should I look for?

Asked by: Bilfen
Hi Bilfen, All surge protectors are designed to protect items plugged into them from incoming voltage spikes, not to stop voltage spikes which might be outgoing, but if your freezer is creating such a problem it might be an indicator of a compressor or control circuit which is wearing down towards a failure (or not). The problem here is that surge / spike protection is always optimised expecting the fault to be arriving into the property from the outside world rather than generated internally so no standard protector will be set up to function in the way which you are wanting it to.

Is it compliant with current IET wiring regulations?

Asked by: DMSLTD
Hi DMSLTD, The IET wiring regulations are only concerned with the hard-wired infrastructure within a property, so therefore adaptors do not fall within the scope of these regulations.

Double socket on wall, assume you would only be able to use 2 plugs on this as the 3rd would clash

Asked by: Bedfordhatter
Hi Bedfordhatter, Some wall sockets have slightly wider-spaced socket positioning, and some plugs have slightly lower profiles, so there is a chance you might be able to make use of all 3 sockets and still use the 2nd socket in the wall plate, but we cannot guarantee that.

The adapter gives protection against a spike from the National Grid but does it also protect against a sop spike caused by a house-related fault causing the RCD to trip?

Asked by: Hebers
Hi Hebers, Any surge protection device is designed to redirect excess voltage levels reaching its input side away from the protected device(s) on the output side, whether that rise in voltage comes from the generating board or from a device inside the property doesn't actually make any difference, the protector will still operate for excessive voltage levels over it's trigger point.
