Rated 5 out of 5 by from Replacement Fan This was a replacement for a Manrose XF100S fan I had in the bathroom which failed finally conked out after 10 years. It's identical to the old one, same dimensions, same screw hole positions, same location of power terminals. It's only been installed for a few days and hoping it also has the same reliability and longevity as the old one too!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from buy cheap buy twice, dont punt i returned the xpelair 12w fan with timer which failed 2 of them in 12 months got refund under 12 month warranty from screwfix this manrose was £10 more expensive than the one with timer i had fitted, when swap with this unit can feel the air were extracted harder than vx100s i would recommend this unit

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Easy to fit I bought this to replace a previous manrose fan. The old one didn't have a timer and initially, I got the replacement with a timer but found that it wasn't compatible with the wiring so I took it back and swapped it for a better match and it was so easy to swap over and electrics terrify me! It's much quieter than the old one too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great for the price I bought this to replace a bathroom fan that was screaming like a banshee, and had been (on and off) from 15 months after it was first installed in a full re-wire. Unfortunately, the wall mounting screw pattern for this was nothing like the old fan. I thought it might be straightforward to mount the innards of this fan into the old fans case, but the motor is mounted backwards compared to my original fan which killed this posibility off. I ended up with no other choice but to re-mount it on the wall by drilling an extra four holes in the wall, something I was hoping to avoid. Fortunately, it came with all the required mounting hardware. I did have masonry plugs and screws but this is a useful addition in the pack. For the price I paid (just under £20, which I think is it's standard price at present), this fan is marginally quieter than the original fan when it was first installed, and doesn't have the squeal that the original fan developed, which is why I'm giving it 5 stars for Overall, Value and Performance. In terms of Features, well, there are none advertised, none expected, and none received. All you get is two terminals, a Live and a Neutral return. Provide 230V over the Live and a connection to Neutral, and the fan spins. This was what was expected and this is the reason I gave Features 5 stars, even though the fan itself has no "features". There's no timer/humidistat/Wi-Fi/Internet-Of-Things capability in this device model, though this base device is available with all of these on different part numbers and at different costs. This was exactly what we were replacing, so the wiring was already available and suitable. This fan is on its own wall switch (which is how we originally wanted it), so the simplest fan would work just fine in this respect. Personally, I was looking for something quieter and was prepared to shell out twice as much for a fan that was 9db quieter, but Mrs JasF pointed out that the fan sound masked ... other sounds. As a result, Mrs JasF preferred the louder one so this is the fan we ended up going for. Once mounted and fully installed with the front cover on, this fan was a couple of milimeters smaller in both dimensions than our original fan, this is something to bear in mind if you haven't decorated underneath the original fan. We had decorated after second-fix, but we had removed the fan to decorate the wall behind so this wasn't a huge issue, you can see a faint line where the old fan was replaced with the paint still pliable but thats all. Despite the issues mounting this fan in the space available (why these fans aren't set up to be universally swappable I can't understand, though all this could be issues with the original fan and not this replacement fan), I'd say overall I'm happy with the way this DIY replacement worked out. I've given Reliability a 5 star although it's way too soon to tell for sure. Assume this fan is still working unless I post another review at a later date stating otherwise.

Does this come with a switched live option or does it only have 2 terminals for a permanent live and neutral? I want to be able to switch this fan on separately and not have it come on when I turn on/off my bathroom light. Many thanks

If this does not come with 3 terminals to be able to switch it on/off separately, can someone recommend what manrose fan does please

What do I do with the additional live connection if I'm moving from a timer fan to a standard one?

I have decided to go with a standard extractor this time but I have the additional live connection for the timer. Do I just cover this live connection up and wire the neutral and other live connection?
