Rated 2 out of 5 by from Sparks Always buy Makita due to 3 year warranty but disappointed with this. First one went sour with a severe lack of performance and spluttering motor after 14 months. Screwfix exchanged and within 10 minutes new one done the exact same so must be a design fault. Spoke to Makita UK who have no history of reports. Will exchange for a Dewalt model same price and same 3 year warranty see how it goes. The cheaper ones are rubbish and I’ve gone through several. Quite fancied the Bosch but twice the cost.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from More than just the job I bought this to get me through a lockdown bar building project, so cutting stone, blocks and any number to steel items i was fabricating or adjusting. Wish i’d also bought the smaller format as it was a handful at sometimes - the trigger can be fiddly but with some practice you get used to it. I bought it because it was Makita as I’ve come to trust the brand.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great cutter Bought this with an Erbauer diamond blade. Only used once for a good session of cutting paving including setts. No problems it cut everything easily which dispelled any worries about the power. Wished I'd bought one ages ago. No obvious soft start but not an issue. It would be good if there was a brake to stop the disc once the trigger was released but I'm not aware of any cutters with this feature. No evidence of reliability yet hence 3 stars.
