Rated 4 out of 5 by from Step ladder Bought two sets for my sons for Christmas after having a set earlier in the year for myself great value for money and do exactly what they are supposed to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Real value for money I brought these expecting them to be on the cheap and cheerful side, however absolutely not the case. They are strong and feel very safe, extremely versaltie. My only criticism would be that the treads are quite narrow and hurt my feet after a while, so not so good if you will be on them for a long period of time.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not suitable for intended use Disappointed to find when I got this home that it doesn't really do that it says. It lists the maximum height as 2.6m, but that is not the maximum height, that is the maximum length the ladder can extend to, which when you consider that the ladder has to be at an angle between 65 and 75 degrees means the actual maximum height is 2.5m. Now, I am no expert on ladders, and probably should have asked for more information, but what I wanted was to use it to access into a loft hatch in a ceiling 2.4m high. In order to do this I had to keep the latter at its steepest permitted angle, and even then it was barely into the hatch, and probably not safe. But also when I read the detailed information which comes with the ladder, but sadly is NOT included on the website, I found out that according to safety recommendations the ladder should extend three rungs into the upper void so that you are not standing on those, but instead using them to hold onto as you climb in. Now having read that, I can understand the logic, but what this practically means is that my 2.6m ladder can only really be used to get into an upper space which is 2m high ... which is near enough head height for me. In addition : * the straps stop the ladder being extended too far (fair enough) but are then left dangling because there is about 20cm excess * the mechanism for joining one part to the other is at a fixed angle, which probably makes sense (as there is no pivot to wear out), but means there is a permanent three inch protrusion on the back. * the guidance is self contradictory - the treads are flat when the ladder is vertical, so when you tilt it they are not, but the guidance says they should be.

Can the stabiliser bar be removed albeit temporary? I acknowledge that it is unstable without it

Can I put the support step on a stair or must it sit at the foot of the stairs

Asked by: Telbeg
Hello, Thank you for your enquiry. This can be used as a stairway ladder, (please see the third photo on the web page). Obviously we always recommend that any ladder is used safely in whatever the situation. Hope that helps. MH
