Rated 2 out of 5 by from Buy another/better make. Bought for its supposed 'High Opacity' Had to put 3 coats over a pale pink shade of emulsion. I've seen more opacity in a taut thing with a name that ends in 'light' and starts with 'feather' !. Found better value at a local supermarket but experience told me that even that was equal rubbish. One positive, it goes on well. Thats It.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great coverage I don't know why everyone doesn't rave about this product. Great coverage in one coat over other colours and a second coat leaves the walls and ceilings sparkling white.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from excellent coverage After using a cheaper paint I bought this and the difference was amazing. Great coverage and good value as it's the larger 15 litres.

Is this paint chalk free and suitable to use in a spray gun when diluted ?

We have a new build fresh new bare plaster and want to spray the walls and ceilings instead of traditional roller decorating
Asked by: Izzy6
Hello Izzy6 Most coatings from all manufacturers will contain a form of Calcium Carbonate. If you are asking if this paint has a chalky finish when dry, then yes it does. It is mainly designed to be used in new build work, where a degree of breathability is required. If your plaster is fully dry i would step up a level in durability and use either Leyland Trade Vinyl Matt, or even better Leyland Trade Hardwearing Matt. All you need to do is dilute the first coat applied to the plaster. Dilution rates differ from coating to coating, 10-20% is ok for the Vinyl Matt 100-200ml water per litre of paint. The Hardwearing Matt is 25% 250 ml water per litre of paint. One diluted coat, followed by 2 undiluted coats. Thank you

Fine cracks

Used this on new lining paper. After 2 coats noticed fine cracks showing where the lining paper joins. Added 3rd coat to cover and it still shows (fine hairline, only see it from a couple of feet but it’s annoying). Can anything fix it?

Can I spray this, diluted?

Asked by: Jarvos
Hello Jarvos Yes you can, ensuring to wear the correct PPE and breathing apparatus, and in well ventilated areas with good circulation

Previously painted wall?

Is there any advantage in using this over Leyland Trade Contract Matt for previously painted walls?
Asked by: Putford
Hello Putford Contract type matts have two main uses, slightly damp plaster (it is a breathable coating) or new build work, where you will get some movement of the building due to drying out. It can be used as a decorative finish over coatings also, however it has very little durability - but if durability is not your main need, it is more than capable.

Is Leyland Super Leytex Paint okay to use as a first coat for new dried plaster on walls and ceiling’s? What washable paint is recommended to use as a top coat?

Asked by: Gurdey
Thank you for your enquiry. The Super Leytex is ideal if the underlying surface is still going through the drying stage, as it is a breathable coating, if the plaster is fully dry it is not needed. In the Leyland range we have the Hardwearing Matt which will provide a tough durable finish, on bare dry plaster all that's required is an initial thinned coat of the Hardwearing, this is called a mist coat, and ensures the full durability is achieved, as you simply apply more top coats of the same paint.
