Rated 4 out of 5 by from You need this!!!! Firstly, i only gave 4 stars as the item came in late to store. But otherwise the product is great!! Should have got these ages ago as i do a lot of doors. Makes a perfect pilot and dead centre to the hinge. Its nice as the set comes in 3 sizes. A must tool for anyone who does a lot of doors etc. Have used quiet a lot since purchase, build quality and performance are great.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from No more wonkey holes Bought these ready to do 10 door hinge sets, have proved their worth making alignment easy.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good but could be better Saw these being used by a carpenter, thought it would be good for me for the occasional DIY use. Disappointed, I had to use the largest one to re-fix a door hinge after plugging the original holes, the others just went straight through and did not 'centre' on the hinge screen hole. Pushing as hard as I could, I could not get more than 10mm into the frame. Had to then use this pilot hole with another longer drill bit. Seems to me the maximum size screw hole these are fit for is a 10 or maybe a 12 if you are careful. The smaller ones, maybe useful but as the hole size is much smaller for 6, 8 size screws there is less need for these. Will keep them but not as useful as hoped

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Better than not having one it costs as much as a Happy Meal. if you are fitting doors or cabinets everyday for a living, then get yourself something that cost four times over. For a handyman that will need it a few times a week or DIY'er it's decent enough

Replacement broken drill bits

Can you buy replacement drill bits for these, if so what size & lengths are they?
Asked by: Arsenal27
The drill bits have a flat and are held in by a grub screw. You could replace with your own including HSS bits - either rely on friction or grind on a flat. The bits are a bit longer than standard bits of the same diameters so ideally you would need to buy long bits and cut to length. Otherwise you have to put on extra pressure as the springs are more or less fully compressed before the bits peep out.

Drill bits replaceable with metal bits?

I'd like to use these guides for drilling seized screws/bolts. Can the wood bits be changed for metal bits?
Asked by: bensox
Actually Screwfix are wrong in their answer. You can replace the drill bits in these by loosening the grub screw. You can then replace with whatever drill bit you like, as long as it fits.
