So I bought this product to seal the tears on the cover, and it sticks very well only time will tell if it will last the winter until we renew the cover next year. Would recommend this product.

can it be removed cleanly

If you remove the tape and there is a residue left on the surface, an adhesive remover or using the tape as a blotter can help remove residue.
