Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality at a good price Made the mistake of replacing an old brass unit with a more expensive plastic float valve that lasted three months. Reverted to this Flomasta valve. Easy to fit, robust, inexpensive. Hopefully will last many years like the original.

hi are these valves WRAS approved

Confirmation Of Size Of Threaded Section

I have measured across the threads with my digital vernier gauge and it tells me it is .75 to .8 of an inch. Do I need a 1/2 inch ball valve assembly or a 3/4 inch ball valve assembly? Thank you.
Asked by: OCBeans
This 1/2" size fits your requirement. Here is the explanation. The threaded part(s) of plumbing fittings are made to a British Standard Pipe Thread size (BSP). BSP sizes don't match up with what you measure on the scale of a ruler, which can obviously cause some confusion. The size was originally based on the inside diameter, measured in inches, of a steel pipe for which the thread was intended. This is the source of the confusion, as people think the size refers to the outside diameter of the male thread. For example a 1/2" BSP thread actually measures more like 3/4" external diameter. Unfortunately I think the SF Product Support answer is misleading.

Increase the flow rate?

I've fitted this but the flow rate is quite slow at filling our cold tank in the loft. It just dribbles out while the old one was fine. Is there any way to increase the flow?
Asked by: Cirrus123
You may be in a low water pressure area. I believe these Float Valves come fitted with a high pressure valve/washer (white in colour). Try changing this out for a low pressure valve/washer (red). Screwfix also sells these : https://www.screwfix.ie/p/flomasta-ball-valve-washer-5-pack/599fy
