Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is the one I have had this beast for over a year now & am pleased to report that it's still going strong & using the original blade. It was an easy set up out of the box & needed no additional tweaks to the alignment of angles, etc. ( I checked recently-still perfect!) Only used for wood, but have hit the odd nail using reclaimed wood,& didn't even realise until after, reassuring that the blade can cope & will not shatter. Overall, a brilliant bit of kit which sails through timber as though it's hardly there at all. Only downside is the dust extraction, which is poor, I think, & I would not even consider using it indoors, but I still think it was the right choice. I would also recommend budgeting to coupling this up with the Evolution mitre saw stand, for an awesome combo.

I am building a pergola and am wondering if I would be able to notch out a 6x2 piece of wood to interlock onto the cross piece

Asked by: Boogienights
Yes, this is perfectly feasible as it has a trench cutting locking mechanism, which means it will only cut to your preset desired depth. Going along the stock in small increments at a time will notch it out with minimal use of hand tools afterwards. Although it's worth pointing out this can only be achieved with a sliding saw & not a static one, as you need a straight cut along the width of the work piece.(to the depth of the lowest tooth of the saw) It is a great saw, & I doubt you will be disappointed with it's performance.
