Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice bit of kit! Bought this to replace my 10 year old mitre, so thought I'd upgrade to the bigger blade, motor and opted for the double bevel function. So far I'm very impressed. A nice solid unit very sturdy. Ready to use straight out the box. It cut through the sheet material I had like a hot knife through butter. It has various set angles where you feel the unit click into place so you know your bang on the money for the angle you need. Can't comment on reliability at this stage. I will update if it all goes horribly wrong!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Brilliant Excellent bit of kit does every thing I need it to do. Very good price as good as saws 3 times the cost.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Erbauer EMIS254S. OK. Unlucky? I've now had two of these. It is heavy, but that makes it nice and stable when sitting on a bench. It is quite big, so you do need space on the bench and if you expect to transport it. On the other hand, the size means that the length and depth of cut is good compared with similar models. There was no noticeable wobble in the blade. The dust bag is nearly useless; yes, it does collect some of the dust, but much more is missed. The bevel angle setting is virtually impossible to read accurately due to its position on the saw, so the bevel angle has to be set with a gauge, and because of the weight of the saw this is awkward. The work clamp is flimsy. The cut depth limiter screw needs to be well tightened to avoid it working loose and moving; or just add a locking washer (how much would that have added to the price?). The blade kicks when starting, so just don't have it in contact with the job when you start. The first saw I was very pleased with. The mitre stops were out by a couple of degrees, but it was a simple matter to adjust the stop plate. The laser was straight, and just off the cut line, but useful for basic lining up. Although the supplied blade cut well, I had bought a finer tooth blade for interior work and changed to that. The problem came when I tried to change the blade again. The securing bolt had tightened up so much that I could not release it (the hex socket started to round off), so it had to go back. Full marks to Screwfix, I was offered a refund or exchange. I was pleased enough with the saw that I went for an exchange. The second one had to have the mitre stop plate re-set as well. This time the laser was well out of line, and there does not appear to be any means of fine adjustment. I eventually got it acceptably straight, although further from the cut line than on the first saw, but still useful for starting to line up work. Of course the line gets further out from the cut line the deeper (thicker) the work to be cut is. The laser is only useful if the work is measured from the left; any work measured from the right has to be lined up manually. This is about the only time the work light was useful, although it might be more valuable if you are left handed. The worst failing was that the sliding mechanism started to catch, making it all but impossible to get a smooth cut. So this one had to go back as well. By now this was close to the end of the guarantee period (2 years), so I went for a refund. Again, full marks to Screwfix; refunded without question. From the number of good reviews it looks like I may just have been unlucky. Twice. If the bolt hadn't seized on the first one, I would probably still be using it, but to have had two, both with problems, I probably won't take the chance again. By all means try one, and I hope you will be pleased, as so many of the other reviewers have been, but make sure it won't be inconvenient to return if you are not.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Great saw except for one thing This saw is very good: for the price, you get a lot. It would get 4 stars except for one thing - out the box the blade is off the vertical by around 1/16 inch from blade edge to centre. Neither Screwfix themselves nor the Erbauer technical helpdesk can tell me how I can adjust the vertical stop. The original advice from Screwfix was to return it, which is not easy for me. I persisted with a request for advice about how to re-calibrate it and they gave me the number for the Erbauer technical helpdesk. They said they would arrange collection and re-calibrate it for me and return it. They could not give me instructions to do it because instructions don't exist, it's shipped from in China. How odd. I'm now left wondering if I want a saw that I cannot recalibrate myself. 3 grub screws located on the rear bevel housing I'm sure will do the job but I'd rather be certain before starting to fiddle. I've raised a question in the Q&A. I will update this review as things progress.

How do I bevel to the right? The left works fine. There is a locking nut at the back but this does not want to move, should it pull out?

Asked by: Paul5678

Can you tell me for bevel cutting should the locking pin at the back(40 in manual) lock the saw at pre-set angles prior to re-engaging locking lever (22 in manual) as mine doesn’t.

Asked by: FJC1
Hello FJC1, No, the locking pin won't re-engage. You just need to lock the bevel angle locking lever when the desired angle is achieved. Thank you for using Q&A

How do you re-calibrate the vertical stop?

Out the box, the blade is off the vertical by around 1/16 inch from blade edge to centre. Neither Screwfix themselves nor the Erbauer technical helpdesk can tell me how to correct this..
