Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just the job Moved into a new place and a number of the valve heads were not working. Thought I may have a job to replace but pleasantly surprised to find them at Screwfix. Easy to fit and reliable.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Drayton TRV Effective piece of kit. Easily fitted if the valve component is already there. The temperature seems to vary a bit between individual heads on the same setting. Last about 15 years before the plastic goes brittle at the securing ring and the head detaches.

Has the design of the TRV4 been changed. I have just bought a new valve but none of my existing TRV4 sensor heads will fit it. The spindle on the new body is about 1.5mm longer than the old spindle. This means the threads on the sensor head cannot engage.

Asked by: Andy123467
If the diameter of the old head is 30mm and not 27mm then it should fit, make sure you open the head to Max and push down on the pin and it should then engage the threads.

Will this TRV head work on a ‘Lifestyle’ valve?

I have swapped a Lifestyle TRV head for this TRV4 head, set it to frost setting but the rad after an hour or more is still hot ?? Please help ??
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes it will work on a lifestyle valve body( providing its not over 15 yrs old ) I would try a head that you know works and shuts off on that valve body and see if it closes the valve ( You may have a faulty head )

I have what looks like an identical head but has British Gas stamped on it and not Drayton. Is it the same?

Asked by: gianni
Yes, It is the same thermostatic head.

I work in a care home and need @50 heads ive tried this one and it seems to work ok but our rads are hotter than 30 degrees are theses ok ,as a plumber said you cant get the valves for your rads.thank you.

Know this is an old thread by now. Presume the rated range of this valve ie 10 to 30c, refers to the ambient temperature of the room, rather than how hot the radiator is. Would be interested to know how the TRV behaves at the two ends of the range. Also, re valves that don't appear to have air slits or holes - how do they sense ambient temperature? Are they actually TRVs or normal valves with numbers on!?

Will this fit as a replacement for a Honeywell trv

Asked by: Anonymous
The TRV 4 has a locking ring with a M30 x 1.5mm thread. It will fit most valves that take this fitting. Due to varying pin stroke lengths of the actual valves the TRV 4 head may not perform as expected due to the difference in manufacturing designs.
