Rated 3 out of 5 by from Innovative product. Wall Dogs are a really good concept - instead of a lot of offering up, marking out and predrilling you can simply offer up, say, a light fitting and bosh the screws straight in, which seem to hold at least as securely as plasterboard fixings. These come in a choice of pan head or countersunk, chrome or white, but all with a PH1 head so you have to keep changing the bit in your driver, which introduces a new, unecessary inconvenience. They don't go into wood that well so if you hit a joist you have to change the bit so you can use a regular screw before changing it back again, meaning you have to worry about keeping two kinds of screwdriver bit to hand. PH1 might have its merits, there might be some technical reason why Wall Dogs only come with a PH1 head, "Old Bob" might even "swear by 'em", but the industry standard is PZ2 and has been for about 40 years since slotted screws fell out of favour. Perhaps DeWalt are on some kind of crusade here, but I am anticipating something better coming along.

Are these screws suitable to hold bathroom panels on top of tiles?

Will these crack the tiles? What size drill bit would I use? Do I need raw plugs?
Asked by: Niknik82
These are not recomended for tiles. The are suitable for various substrates including timber/concrete/block/stone/plasterboard/brick but due to the mechanical application on the wall-dogs you would risk cracking the tiles. A 5mm pilot hole is required for them ( The actual cutting thread is 5mm so any contact with tiles on application with an impact driver may crack the tile )

Would this product be suitable & strong enough to hold a hanging mirror? Height 45cm Width 45cm Depth 3cm 40% MDF, 40% Mirror (glass), 20% Plastic.

Asked by: Humi
Wall Dogs have a recommended load of 0.3kN in concrete ( 1kN = 100kg ) so you would need to work out the weight of the mirror and the amount of fixings you will be using.

Can I use these to put up an outside mirror?

Hi, I'm not good at these type of things so am wondering if I can use these screws to hang a mirror in my garden.? It's a brick wall and the mirror is 70cm by 50cm. Thanks in advance x x
Asked by: angelbaby268
You can use Wall Dogs for fixing into brick, however externally a stainless fixing should be used plus the weight of the mirror would need to be known.
