Rated 3 out of 5 by from Could do a lot better... The one time I really this this overpriced item, and as it turns out, is a piece of junk. My (soon to be extinct) lead pipes are thinner than what this fitting allows, and while I can see on you tube videos that perhaps the fitting goes on loose, but does up nice and tight, the T-shaped compression fitting is nothing more than a nicely machined item, than certainly doesn't compress in any way at all. I know I have the parts the right way round, since there are only 2 parts inside of this fitting. Anyway, needless to say, the instructions are, I think, the worst instructions I have ever seen in my life for anything, and I am sure there are much better examples out there.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Useless Absolutley brilliant product if you enjoy wasting your time and money. No instructions and whatever way you install it you get leaks. Not one of Screwfixes better products you are better soldering the copper straight on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Rubbish Rubbish. cheap imitation product. Does not hold water tight. I only bought this because my usual merchant was closed on a Sunday. Didn't work. DO NOT BUY.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Excellent product, not encountered these before - but glad they exist. Quick and easy, watertight first time - cutting the lead pipe took longer than fitting this. I was slightly dubious of the sizing but took the risk on the assumption the lead pipe I had is a common one combined with knowing 0.9" isn't far off the 24-25mm I measured the outside diameter at. I glanced at the instructions as I opened the packet and noticed they are terrible - the depiction is poor and the words pretty much just said check poor picture. Although I did notice it encouraged to chamfer the edge, which I did upon noticing the shape inside the brass fitting. It's pretty obvious but for anyone not so confident, you put the brass nut on the lead pipe first, then a brass compression piece. (Check your nut distance if you've had to file the pipe to make sure the main brass body goes all the way home.) then a rubber o-ring followed by the main brass body. On the 15mm side you just have a standard olive then compression nut. I PTFE'd this & threads.

What way round does the brass piece sit in nut???

I opened the pack took apart noticed the brass piece you put into nut second didn’t fit great. I flipped it and it sat perfectly inside the nut. I am now confused at which way this is meant to sit!!! Is it small first or bigger first…

What is the minimum length of lead pipe do I need for this fitting?

The lead pipe is on an outside wall and used to connect to an outside toilet cistern, so only 20mm of pipe available.
Asked by: obdan

Is this the only size you sell as lead pipe comes in various sizes?

Asked by: gbu1
Hello gbu1, This is the only size we currently sell. Thank you for using Q&A

Does this work with 15mm plastic pipe too?

hoping to use this from a lead pipe to a 15mm plastic pipe, would this be suitable or should I go to copper then transition to plastic? OR is there an alternative part I should be buying to go from lead to Plastic direct! Thanks In Advance!
Asked by: PsymonNovice
Of course it will, you just need metal insert for plastic pipe and use it the same way as copper.
