Rated 1 out of 5 by from Ensure you have 2.4GHz router! Beware. This product only connects to a 2.4GHz wifi router. If yours is 5GHz or not dual speed then it will not connect and is useless.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from BG Home App Not Work I have come unstuck during the Setup. The BG Home App is required to be installed on your Smart Phone, but after entering the user email and password, the app stopped working, and caused the Wifi of the phone to be continually active. The only way to stop the Wifi malfunction was to uninstall the app. So without the app you can not setup your Smart Plug. Currently I am trying to contact the manufacture for assistance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple set up Love this! Dead easy to set up, took about 5 minutes. Use it in the ‘Man Cave’ for the heater. Can sit in the house and switch the heater on half an hour before I go in and it’s toasty when I go in. Excellent!

Can these units monitor power consumption through the app?

Hi Dermie, No, the sockets are designed for smart control only so have no power monitoring capacity.

Can this default to 'on' after a power cut? We need the connected device to auto-start after a power cut.

Hi BlueSpider, Once power is restored the socket will continue to operate as if it had not disappeared, so an ON socket will return to the ON condition.

Can this plug be used with the Hive app?

Hi barryttell, We do not have any experience with the Hive app, and certainly have not made any attempt to be specifically compatible with it, but if it is capable of using IFTTT (If This Then That) control protocols then it should be able to make use of our sockets yes. Alternatively, if it can utilise either Amazon Alexa or Google Home skills then there is a BG Home skill for each of these systems which would integrate it easily (once set up in our native BG Home app).

What happens if there is no wifi?

Could you please tell me what happens with the socket if there is no wifi? say for example the wifi router broke down or its turned off, will the this go dead or provide power? Thanks in advance.

Hi Eddiex, The Smart circuitry has to communicate with a web-based server in order to perform any of the App programmed or Smart Speaker controlled functions, so the loss of Wi-Fi and/or router connection would prevent this. You would still be able to manually switch the socket with the physical button in this situation though.

Will not connect to google home app

Works fine off the bg home app but when trying to link accounts on the google home app just says network error, how do you solve this problem ?
