Rated 1 out of 5 by from Constant reboots required I purchased 2 of these to test them out before I changed some 2G 13A sockets. They initially seem really good. BG app isn't bad, connects with Alexa really easily. Unfortunately every coupe of days they decide to stop responding, and require powering off and on. Glad I didn't buy the sockets, as if they have the same issue, the whole circuit will need powering off/on.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Terrible App Waste of my money - requires use of an app which won't work unless you give it permission to access data, like files and photos. And also requires that the wireless network it's plugged into is at 2.4ghz - so if you've got a high speed broadband connection it won't work.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Only works on 2.4 GHz routers Flakey to say the least. Word of warning people at BG seemed to have not realised most routers work on both 2.4 and 5.8 GHz. So if you you should buy one of these you will need to set your router to 2.4, which isn't the most straight forward thing to do. Even then it's flakey, you will need to constantly scan and connect the switch to the App...V poor D- Must try harder!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Once set up it works well Initially was very quick to connect to wi-fi. Thought it all seemed too simple, then tried to connect to Alexa. Had to add the BG skill to Alexa on my phone app, then tried to add the device. Nothing. In the end I performed a hard reset on the plug to reconnect it to WiFi and it eventually got it to connect to Alexa following the add a device process. It’s now turning on my Christmas tree lights with a vocal command which saves me having to limbo under the Christmas tree every night to turn them off. Only had it 3 data but it’s not missed a beat since set up.

What happens if there is no wifi?

Could you please tell me what happens with the socket if there is no wifi? say for example the wifi router broke down or its turned off, will the this go dead or provide power? Thanks in advance.
Asked by: Eddiex
Hi Eddiex, The Smart circuitry has to communicate with a web-based server in order to perform any of the App programmed or Smart Speaker controlled functions, so the loss of Wi-Fi and/or router connection would prevent this. You would still be able to manually switch the socket with the physical button in this situation though.

Does this work with Siri for Apple home pods

Asked by: Andy01543
Hi Andy01543, Thank you for your interest in our Smart Home sockets. Currently all of our Smart Home devices are compatible with the BG Home app, plus Alexa and Google Home via their own BG Home skills (there is none for Siri at this time).

Random alterations to timers set

Had anyone reported issues with this device randomly altering a set timer schedule on it? Say its set for a Friday, Saturday & Sunday, randomly it will change to Saturday, Sunday Monday.
Asked by: Toon9
Hi Toon9, We have only had one report of timers altering, and that was due to the BST/GMT switch and the fact that the cloud server service which holds the BG Home account details not having such a clock change so not updating the stored timers to match the new local UK time. So that we can go into more detail with you, and ask any further questions which occur from this, please contact us directly at:- technical@luceco.uk
