Rated 1 out of 5 by from Noisy. Standard install of 11 integrated LED downlighters of a brand I have had no trouble dimming before. This Nexus Dimmer is noisy! Customer quite rightly asked if I could do anything about it so ended up throwing it in the bin and replacing the module with a varilight dimmer. Will not buy again.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not for LED Bulbs These dimmers don’t work with any of the dimmable LED bulbs from good brands like Philips and Osram. Loud buzzing, flickering and blub blow outs! I’ve swapped four brands of bulbs and lost over 50 pounds on bulbs before I replaced these Dimmers with ones that actually work with LED lights. BG claim it is designed to work with BG’s own brand of bulbs called luceco but the bulb offerings (Mostly ugly) are very limited. The boring details: They use leading edge dimming technology. Leading edge dimmers are suitable for inductive load, for example magnetic low voltage transformers; and resistive loads like incandescent light bulbs. They are generally unsuitable for LED light bulbs. Trailing edge dimmers are suitable for capacitive loads like electric low voltage transformers and LED drivers as well as resistive loads like incandescent bulbs. Simply put, leading edge dimmers tend to be unsuitable for LED bulbs, so if you’re looking to use LED, and you want a dimmer, you’ll need to shop elsewhere!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from faulty to start with. bought this to replace a sticking push dimmer switch, and this was even worse,, wouldn't even turn lights on, and started flickering, 25 year guarantee, more like 25 seconds. i had to fit old one back on for now and keep messing with the push button till i find another one. can't recommend this at all, going back for refund.

Which of your led dimmer switches are trailing edge?

Asked by: Kass101
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. All British General dimmer switches are Leading Edge design, we have never made any other type of dimmer switch and have no current plans to change this.

I have twelve 5 watt dimmable LED lights. What is a suitable dimmer switch. I have a spare 300 watt (minimal load 10 watt dimmer switch. Can I use this?

Asked by: sant
Hi, when using LED lamps on dimmers the value of the dimmer is de-rated. For our 400W dimmer we recommend no more than 50Watts of LED load per dimmer module. For your spare 10-300W dimmer you would need to contact the manufacturer for advice on its LED compatibility and loading range.
