Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simple effective junction box No Frills but effective - does the job. durable plastic and good seal.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Waterproof? Advertised as waterproof, but does not come with grommets to plug the holes where you put the cables through?

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Handy Enclosure Box Box easy to work with. I used a 20mm tank cutter for opening two of the entry points. The polycarbonate cut well with no splintering etc. The cover seal has a positive positioning. I had no real problem with screwing on the cover. I can believe that if excessive force is applied then the internal moulded screw lugs could possibly break? For my application hopefully this has been a fit and “forget”. Reliability - three stars - no reason to suspect it will cause issues but only just fitted so only time will tell.

Can you fit a 13amp plug and socket in this box

Asked by: Woldtop
Hi Woldtop, We would not expect a standard single socket to fit inside this enclosure (junction box) as generally speaking they tend to be roughly 86mm square (so larger than the space available inside).

Can you explain how the 25mm rear entry with sealing ring works please

Would this be suitable point of entry for a cable coming through the wall from inside the house.
Asked by: Alluda
Hi Alluda, The ring on the rear of the box is not a sealing ring but rather a ring for sealant to be applied to so that fluid does not leak in through the rear opening (when it is made), it is actually more accurately two rings with a slight gap between the inner and outer ones so that silicon sealant (or similar) will get a good bond on the box. Yes, the intention of this entry is exactly for a direct cable connection out of the wall of the building it is fixed to.

Is it strong enough to mount CCTV

Looking for a junction box with lid to mount CCTV to the lid. Will the box be sturdy enough to hold a camera
Asked by: CJN0
Hi CJN0, That is somewhat of a subjective question, the enclosure is sturdy and rigid but the weight of the camera will be a factor, as will the method of attachment (screwing straight to the lid would be less secure than bolting through to a weight distributing plate for example).

Can the 4 cut-outs be knocked out, or do they have to be drilled?

Asked by: WhyDIWhy
Definitely drill this out. You probably could do it with a knife, but it's pretty thick. I started with a knife and then went and got a 20mm holesaw and that's absolutely the neatest way to do it. There is no way you can punch it out or knock it out with a screwdriver etc.

What glands/gaskets do you need for this to ensure it is water-tight?

Asked by: JohnofHalifax
Hi, thank you for your product enquiry. To complete the installation of this British General IP55 Enclosure Grey 85 x 75 x 65mm you would need 20mm diameter glands/gaskets suitable for the type of cabling used.
