I’ve just charged my iPhone 11 in one of the USB ports. After charging I touched the plug just below the USB ports it felt warm. Not hot, just warm. I unplugged and the plug soon cooled down (only took 5-10 mins). Is this something to worry about?
Dear NickJem,
At higher outputs it is possible for some heat to be generated by the transformer circuit, so depending on the mA requirements of the connected device(s) this could happen.
iPhones have been moving up through the power requirements for charging, so are currently somewhere in the 2-3A region as far as we are aware from what information Apple makes available, which is most of the potential output so this will have a bearing on the heat being generated.
